So far nothing has been suggested that is actually doable/enforceable (except CynadoAlley). The more I think about it the less I blame CA. If all the fans in Hilton wanted the place to be rockin' they could easily do it themselves. I really think we are using CA as a scapegoat.

The fact they frown upon being intoxicated is enough to blame them. As long as someone is not being completely out of control, out of line, or passing out, I dont see the big deal about being intoxicated. Oh well still do it anyways.

Hand out bottles of liquor to the student section before the game..

Oh, and get people in the front rows who want to be loud, not people who just want camera attention.

As for the cell phones... every section has plenty of people with cell phones out, that's not going away anytime soon. You're just identifying yourselves as old if you obsess about them.

Get rid of cyclone alley committee. Also, get rid of those stupid wave your arms direction signs for free throws.

another thing is during music that is coming on, stop with the advertisements coming on during the music. That isn't a CA issue and I understand why it happens, but it's annoying.

READ THIS:

Okay, let's not get into the whose fault it is discussion... It's already been determined countless times that this is how it is:

2000-shortly after ish... No Cyclone Alley. Basketball team is awesome. Student section good.

2004ish - Basketball program on the decline... Cyclone Alley comes into play, owns one half of the student section. Other half is general admission. Diehards flock to non-Cyclone Alley side and it is rowdier.

2008ish - Lowpoint of the program, lowpoint of the student section.

2011 - Basketball program starting to gain momentum... Fans want Hilton to return to full glory.

2012 - Basketball program has best season in some time... Hilton in general does better, but Cyclone Alley takes most of blame for a non-rowdy and much too structured student section

2013 - Basketball program looking to be consistently good in the coming years. Hilton getting close to old-time loudness, but student section isn't "crazy"

TL;DR - Cyclone Alley takes the blame for students not knowing what a good student section is supposed to be like due to the time it was introduced - when the program was nearing a low. Now, I'm not saying Cyclone Alley is a good thing, but the problem is the majority of the students just plain don't know how to act at a basketball game.

If they had a way to manage their point system better, that would be great. I didn't know I actually had to sign in somewhere until it was too late, and at first I didn't even know what the points were or what they were for. Would be nice if they had a way to sign in via card scan similar to the career fair

seriously though. all the shots of our students on tv (those in the front) appear to be LARP participants and dudes with high ranks in world of warcraft. how bout working some fine trim into the mix?

That's what happens at a school with good engineering and agriculture programs

I'm barely 30. I also am nearly always nose deep in my phone, EXCEPT when I'm at an ISU sporting event. I assure you, nothing important is going on. If it is, you're probably not at the game anyway.

Tell them the point system sucks. Spend their money on actually giving things to students at the games each time. Also, we need more students realizing that it's "cool" to go all out and be crazy all the time. Every time I go I fell like people think it's weird or embarrassing to have energy the whole game.

Basically, we need to encorage drinking before the game. Football student section always is crazy regardless of if we are good or not. Tailgating obviously is the key difference here.

To be honest if you need to drink to get crazy at a game, then that's kinda sad

FYI, I'm not going to suggest a need for intoxicated students. I'm not sure if those were serious suggestions or not.

Also, maybe get rid of the induvidual chairs and somehow get just benches? More people can get crammed in, and usually that's rowdier. Need more scanners too, getting in is a pain in the ***, usually takes like 4-5 swipes. They have more, as we used to be able to go in the North and South entrances, but now we can only go in the North. They're just not using them all

Instead of the points system, put some of that money into prizes for the craziest/most creative students at the game
