Maybe some of the Cyclone Alley money have to pay when getting tickets could be used to get a discount on signs at local places like Copyworks. When you get tickets you could get like a coupon to make a Fathead or a big sign for like 20-30 off. We are paying this money, give us something useful.

If CA is going to do the "ooooh" thing, don't half-*** it. Either do it right, or don't do it at all.

BTW, the "ooooh" thing sucks. Come up with something different, or at least mix it up with chant's like "Let's go State", etc.

No, and their judging attitudes towards people who aren't them has spread to many people through the student section. I have been intoxicated multiple games, not overly vulgar, and rail on players, while supporting my team and I get looked at all funny, and judgmental. Um it's a damn basketball game, not church.

Sadly this goes for anybody that gets into the game. I get judgmental looks, and the occasionally a complaint for bring my Ron Burgundy sign to games. And if you look in the picture I linked (that's me jumping higher than everyone, yelling) the two girls behind me were laughing at me. I don't care, I have a blast, and hope I can be more infectious to the student section than the quiet, too-cool-for-school folks.

I'd like to see chants when we have the ball. Just like the 'Lets go Duke' chant but replace with . I S U

Clap on I ... clap on S ... extend arm in air for U. Start slow and get faster during possession.

I'd like to provide a well reasoned argument against the coordinated waving hands during free throws, since most people here who ***** about CA can't seem to think of one.

Having people concentrate on watching a sign and trying to time their arms to the movement takes away their focus on making noise. I think that any sort of coordinated effort in that regard is going to take away from the noise factor. If that's okay, then by all means stick with the waving. Just understand that it will most likely be quieter than otherwise.

I think it might work as well to hand out something to the students to have them wave on their own, and simply give the direction to be loud. Perhaps that isn't an option, though.

I also think the contrast that someone drew to the student section at football games is an interesting comparison. The culture of the student section is different in some way, where football games you're meant to go crazy, but basketball requires some higher level of civility. I'm not sure what you do about that, and honestly whether or not those at the top of the athletic department want it.

-what about dispersing the cyclone alley leaders randomly amongst the students so their job can be to be rowdy and spread the rowdiness instead of standing in the front row, pacing around next to guys dressed like fruit?

-go to a game at KU and itll make you want to barf how crazy stupid psycho loyally insane those idiot students are come game time. hilton has that potential FOR SURE and i think a lot of it has to do with how small allen fieldhouse is, making it sound louder because they cram 2,000 more people into it than hilton and its the size of the bathrooms at hilton...but my point is that we have the opportunity to make it THE place to play and were seeing flashes of it, just not consistency. a home crowd obviously gives an advantage so maybe brief the youngsters on those win-loss stats at hilton to remind them why they need to lose their voice.

-it sucks that the crazy kids that have no shame and yell like all hell might end up in the front row of the balcony because they didnt get there soon enough. i dont get how people are committed enough to get there early for a good seat but dont care enough to get off their phone and only get excited when theyre on the flex cam. i definitely think you could reward rowdiness with a reserved seat for the next game or even upgrade seats for the ones who cant get there 3 hours before OR label random scattered chairs that say 'if youre not crazy enough, we reserve the right to upgrade someone elses seat with the one youre in.'

-get some new traditions going...brainstorm with these kids and get them excited about something at certain points of the game. i think the tradition always draws people in and makes them want to be a part of it (like reading the newspaper when the other team comes out and then ripping it up and throwing it in the air, etc). we have that flag kid that runs around, and thats a cool and unique thing...but it doesnt really allow cyclone alley to get involved. make a montage of other student sections and show these kids not only whats out there for ideas but what theyre up against and not coming close to competing with!

I love these points, and think the newspaper thing would be an awesome idea. There's absolutely no shortage of where to get the newspapers. Thousands of Iowa State Daily's come out for free everyday.
