You want to fix CA? Get rid of the CAC.

the problem is that organization is made up of the same soulless resume padding nerds that created this stupid thing in the first place.

if you want to fix the student section, you return it to being simply a student section. Remove some stupid leadership council that runs it.

But that won't happen, because the guy coming on here asking us how to fix the student section isn't really interested in doing that. He's just interested in padding his résumé.

Not true. I'm not one of the brass that sits down front with a name tag and helps run Cyclone Alley. They sent out a survey at the beginning of the season and I evidently said I'd be willing to sit down and give input. I'm basically going to one meeting and sharing ideas. Some of which are from what people on this message board are saying. By no means am I padding my resume.

if you really want to fix things, here you go: get rid of CAC

we don't it need for football. We don't need it for basketball. It does nothing to help, and whether some on this board choose to acknowledge it, it hurts. The extent it hurts is debatable. The fact that it hurts is not.

Exactly! I still to this day do not understand why Cyclone Alley was ever started. The student section was never broke, it didn't need to be fixed in 2003.

I got this email too, and said I'd like to be part of a meeting to improve CA, but didn't hear back. I'm glad you and others have been contacted though, and can be a voice for the rest of us that legitimately want to improve CA.
So what is the general consensus on which points the students attending the meeting should bring up?

-Less ogranized chants? -More sign/costume contests? -Front row reward seating for students who earn them by being the most into the game? -Others?

Just want to make sure these guys have a good set of ideas to bring up.

Those seem to be the recurring ones that I will plan on mentioning. Some want to get rid of Cyclone Alley all together. I understand why they are saying that, but it's not in my right to discuss that so I'm not going to.

Handout 6 packs to every student before the game, let them drink it (chug it) and then continue on into your seats. By about tip off everyone should have a good enough buzz to not feel insecure about being going crazy.

Generally I think meetings lead to structure and that leads to worsening cyclone alley. My advice? Free the students. More ideas. More spontaneity. More alcohol. Less meetings.

This would 100% turn into "Front row reward seating for students who are friends of CACC members"

As someone who gets to Hilton very early for most games to sprint to the front of the student section... I would be very ticked off by this

oh, almost forgot. less cell phones. Tired of tv shots of all the students texting. Would like more tv shots of students sneaking pulls from a flask like the good old days...that weren't that long ago.

Agreed that there would be issues with this. CAC might just say that their friends are more into it than everyone else all the time. I'm just trying to think of ways to reward students for getting into the game.

What are people's thoughts on paying more to site closer to the court? So there may be two different student season ticket options and those that pay more would get first priority? I'm somewhat assuming here that those willing to pay more are better fans in general, but that is not necessarily the case.
