Ideally, those that care more about the game, those that go crazy and stuff would be willing to pay more to go to the games. Those that txt, don't care, sorority girls that talk about the twitter layout, etc. wouldn't be willing to pay as much and would therefore be seated further back. Think about it, who sits up close in the non-student sections, those that are willing to pay more and often care more.

That is not how it would work. A large majority of the "Don't Care Crowd" would still buy the more expensive package. Then we would end up with some of our best fans who didn't buy their tickets early enough stuck in the bad seats. It would also contribute to a lower turnout from people who know their seats will suck no matter what.

Yeah, the shots of Cyclone Alley showing people on their phones is annoying. You're not at a high school game, you're at one of the finest home courts in ALL of college basketball. If you can't appreciate that, then you don't belong anywhere near the court. It may seem overboard to even suggest that at the meeting, but it truly seems to be an issue. You shouldn't be mentally checked out while sitting in the student section of an ISU basketball game. It's asinine that this should even be an issue.

A ****IN MEN! Just wait till you all get out of college and you have to give boatloads of money to sit nowhere near the court. You, like me now, will greatly miss the time you had when you could sit so close. I'm glad I didn't waste my time back from 02-06 like some of the people today. Back then we had no cyclone alley, or one side cyclone alley, one side crazy students.

That's not what he was saying. He was responded to those who were making that claim.

I'm not saying drink or don't drink before a game - do whatever you want. I just chuckle when I see the old timers comment about the student section needing to be drunker to make more noise.

Because they obviously notice a difference between football and basketball student sections.... Not that hard to figure out.

I am a huge Iowa State fan, and pay for my own school so every little bit counts, whether it be a meal plan or an extra $200 to get a good seat at a student section. Suzy Sorority, who's daddy pays for everything, would have no problem telling Pops to just cut her a check so she can sit with her friends and have a chance to be on TV!

In the rest of Hilton Coliseum paying more money SHOULD get you a better seat but in the student section everyone should get a equal chance at good seats

That's kind of what I figured would be said, but I thought I'd try it out for size anyway. Is there anyway besides over selling tickets or making the student section smaller that people think would lead to the student section traditionally being more full? Usually it's pretty good during conference games, but it wasn't great against Oklahoma, and the non conference games are awful.

The B12 needs some better villains to fire up the crowd a bit more. There just aren't players that compare to Jason Sutherland and the Harrison bros nowadays. Players that make you want to get drunk before the game. :jimlad:

This is what would happen

Thanks for the input. You could have said that the first time I posted it.

I, like many, can do it both sober or drunk. But when many become very judgmental and give you a scowl in a student section for supporting the team, this affects someones urge to get all "bat **** crazy". And guess what may help solve that problem? Liquid Courage....

Those people judging include CAC, so how will that work out when you get kicked out of the game?

Trust me, I've lived with a CAC member for a year who was the epitome of what is wrong with the student section.

Non-conference games are awful in every section. Until ISU upgrades the non-conference schedule, it will continue to suck. I chalk the OU game up to the 6PM tip. Its a tough time for anyone to get to.

I will say, Saturday against Baylor was by-far the fullest I have seen the student section (where only students where in it) in nearly 10 years.

I agree with your idea, but nobody writes checks.
