If the students who are the most into the game, and going the craziest could somehow be rewarded by being given front row seats on a game to game basis, that would be awesome. Sure, it's all a matter of opinion on "who" is being the loudest, most into it, etc, but with how many people just stand there it wouldn't be that difficult. Would certain students end up being given front row seats multiple times, and more than other students? Sure they would. That's the point. It encourages the other students to finally get into the game if they want those awesome seats.
And when it comes to who judges what kids are the most into it, how many students are a part of the CAC? Have one person on each side have the responsibility to observe the student section to see what students are doing the best. I know you want to watch the game, we all do, so members of the CAC can just take turns who watches at certain games.
It's a basic idea, and might have certain things that need to be worked out differently, but I think that the students that are the most into it (I'd like to think that that includes me) should be rewarded with awesome seats.

Last year my friends and I would wait 2-3+ hours before the doors opened to get front row. We would always be loud and crazy, yelling at the refs and opposing players, trying to get the students behind us rowdy. The students down there now are just there to be on tv. They dont give two ***** about the game and what is going on. Most of them dont even know the rules of the game. You should sit down there and listen to some of their conversations. ******* pathetic.

Another idea, lets not have the Cyclone Alley committee up front. You have a bunch of people in the same shirt and a name tag, that can't be overly vulger or crazy because they are part of the committee. Make them come in at the same time as all the students and lose the name tag and special privileges.

Make the student section better, and then join it as a student, not as a committee member.

I feel like offering a crash course in the rules of basketball might help honestly. Like some of the fans around me have no idea what the hell is going on. Looking at you sorority girls who spent 40 minutes talking about twitter layouts.

Some of them do come in at the same time, just have the security people save their seats.

Girls behind me at the Baylor game were talking about how Rashad came here to see us and Baylor. I wanted to turn around and punch them in the face for being so stupid.

That brings up a whole other problem. I'll get there 2-3 hours before the game also, and still end up with a seat in the 7-8th row because the other doors are opened first, or the person I have swiping my lines cards doesn't know what they're doing. It's whatever, I understand it's not CA's problem, that's all on Hilton. The point is, I sit in the a row 6 or 7 rows back from people in the very front, and I (and other students) are much more into it than the ones who lucked out with a speedy ticket taker. Again, it's whatever, I just didn't get luck out, but if I'm going crazy and into the game in the 7-8th row, I should be rewarded occasionally with a guaranteed front row seat.

Some of that would be solved if they let us in in every door like last yea. Not a CA problem, but still.

Last year for the Iowa game, they scanned us, let us in the concourse an hour and a half before, and then let us go down an hour before. Can they make prescanning happen every game?

I don't know how much of this is enforceable, but there are some good ideas coming in here. I think the biggest thing is students need to know they are encouraged to make signs and stuff, and know that there are certain rules to follow when making them. Also, having garunteed front row seats for those that do make signs and dress up is a great idea. If you do that tho, there should also be a way to keep track of who is winning so that the same person doesn't win all the time. Spread the love, sharing is caring!

Tell them to make the basketball student section like the football student section.
No rules, no policies, just show up and be loud.
Also, tell the CACC that they shouldn't be able to save seats in the front for their friends. All they do is show up at tip off and then stand there.
I actually don't mind the arm waving thing during free throws. That has actually been scientifically proven as the best method at distracting a FT shooter.
I'm not saying to encourage drinking, but they should get rid of the "rule" that says you cannot show up drunk. Yes, I realize a lot of students already do, but just do away with that rule. It's a college student section, not middle school choir practice. They are adults, let them make their own choices.

They need a designated person to pump everyone up. I know when I was in high school we had a couple kids who always liked to be out in front of everyone trying to get people to have fun and get pumped up. As dumb as it sounds, some people don't go to the game to watch, they could care less unfortunately. We need someone who is going to go is going to be in the section pumping people up and creating a fun atmosphere. Keep people entertained, I know the game should, but some idiots need other motivation.

Does cyclone alley actually do anything besides sell t-shirts, take up the front row and call itself cyclone alley?

No, and their judging attitudes towards people who aren't them has spread to many people through the student section. I have been intoxicated multiple games, not overly vulgar, and rail on players, while supporting my team and I get looked at all funny, and judgmental. Um it's a damn basketball game, not church.

Did it before KU as well, worked so much better.

Yup, this would really help with the problem of kids getting there well before others and still getting worse seats. Pre-scan the first 5-10 people at each door. They're the ones that care the most in the first place. Again, probably not CA's call, but they're more likely to bring up a change in the way Hilton is doing things than any of us are.

Exactly. I agree... People look down upon stuff like that, when instead it should serve as a rally cry.
