Did Fred mess up not taking Peter Jok?

Jok would probably be a clone right now if the Lefty thing didn't happen. Although it may not have been a good fit. Jok seems like he needs someone who will chew his *** frequently, which really wasn't Fred's style.

They will be down for sure next year, or at least I think they will. It is probably my fault they are good this year though, as I kind of ran some smack at my Hawkeye friends, telling them both teams were final 4 teams, only they would be in the NIT final 4.

Boy, you must be getting that thrown back in your face now. Yikes! Good luck enjoying that. lol

Is this a trap? C'mon, as much as I would want to believe you, you know they're not going to be horrible. Fran's stability in coaching staff, know what they're doing, and can drill it. Sure they won't have a Uthoff but his system works. Not falling for these naysayer posts anymore and then they become the darlings of the basketball nation, and I have to see that dreaded SI issue again. Sure would like to know with all the experienced seniors they had coming back from two consecutive tournament teams, why they weren't ranked at the beginning of the year in the first place. Aaron White was good but only 1 guy.

You go ahead and list off their rotation of 7-8 players next year as things currently stand and include their class as well. Do that and tell me where 75 ppg are coming from. It'll be a rough year for them.

Not really, we do some slight ribbing, but they are good guys. For the most part Iowans in general are good peeps. I don't have a problem with any of my Hawk friends, and they don't have a problem with our Cyclone group. We get together a lot and watch each others games.

Williams SO/Bohannon FR
Ellingson RS SO/Flemming SO
Peter Jok SR
Uhl JR/Baer SO
Cook FR/Wagner SO

Pretty solid froncourt but that backcourt will be one of the worst if not the worst in the conference.

I get your view, I'm just not falling for it. Better for my health, lol. Kruger at OU is a prime example of how you don't need a bunch of 'on paper' 4/5 star guys. They develop and play the system.

hard to compete for a kid who gave up an entire year eligibility to:

1) play with his butt buddies from Siouxland

2) land in IC because he also wanted to stay with his girlfriend. The guy has been whipped since he was 18

Uthoff is from Cedar Rapids. His girlfriend transferred to iowa a year after him. he heavily considered iowa state.

Beyond playing Iowa once a year Peter Joc is the past. I'm more concerned with what's on the table and what's coming in next year.

I hear ya. They may try to play big again and bump Jok down to the two spot who knows. They desperately need a 5th year transfer in that backcourt. Far worse than our need for a forward.

IMO, Fred Hoiberg was mentally and emotionally gone from ISU at least 1 year before he actually announced his departure. He, in my mind, is Cael Sanderson II!!! One would think that someone who had been so revered, honored, respected and promoted by his alma mater would have wanted to close out his career there strongly, but---sadly---that IS NOT what he did. I walked away from a lot of top recruits in his last two years which could have helped the current team significantly---because he was too busy focusing on his own self interests!!

You mean except for this...

Matt Thomas > Peter Jok

Not sure why compare, or are you suggesting we only had room for 1 or the other? Both having their best year. Hope Matt can get off more shots next year and get to the foul line more.

For the transfer? Not what I heard. Mind was made up before he even visited. Guess it doesn't really matter at this point, tho.

Wow, cool I guess. Like my friends (who happen to be Hawk fans) , but no way does watching a game with them sound like fun or a good idea for me. lol But then again, I don't go the smack route.

It helps that they really didn't think that Iowa was a NCAA team either going into the season. They thought that if Dingleberry could play well, and Uthoff was a stud they could make the NCAA, but they didn't see this coming either!

You are dumb. IDC if its the big10 you have no idea wtf ur talking about
All bias aside the top 6 teams in big12 and big10 are pretty similar. Both tough as hell

The Big 10 has Mich St, Maryland and Iowa. Purdue, Michigan and Indiana are ok. Ohio State is ehh. The rest of the league is garbage. That's seven garbage teams.

The Big 12 has Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa State, West Virginia, Baylor and Texas. Texas Tech is ok. K-State is ehh. That leaves two garbage teams. Two.

I don't think the top six in each league are the same. If you said the top three in the Big 10 are similar to the top six in the Big 12 than I would agree.

I thought Wisconsin blocked us as one of the schools he could get a release to.

Wisconsin blocked everyone. They blocked us, all of the Big Ten, and even some SEC or ACC schools I think. Bo Ryan is a miserable **** if you ask me. Good coach, but a miserable ****. Uthoff would have had to pay his way for a year here, just like he did at Iowa.
