Did Fred mess up not taking Peter Jok?

I thought Wisconsin blocked us as one of the schools he could get a release to.

Bo Ryan blocked us and insinuated there was tampering, but didn't mention us by name. Iowa fans had a field day with that thinking Fred had done something illegal, but Uthoff was Iowa all the way.

The Big 10 has Mich St, Maryland and Iowa. Purdue, Michigan and Indiana are ok. Ohio State is ehh. The rest of the league is garbage. That's seven garbage teams.

The Big 12 has Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa State, West Virginia, Baylor and Texas. Texas Tech is ok. K-State is ehh. That leaves two garbage teams. Two.

I don't think the top six in each league are the same. If you said the top three in the Big 10 are similar to the top six in the Big 12 than I would agree.

Wisconsin is #36 RPI....they aren't "garbage".

hard to compete for a kid who gave up an entire year eligibility to:

1) play with his butt buddies from Siouxland

2) land in IC because he also wanted to stay with his girlfriend. The guy has been whipped since he was 18

This is a lie. Do you always make up BS and try to get away with it? pathetic

How do you know he would have went there in a heart beat? Was he close with Marcus?
And if he got an offer, do you think he would have gotten minutes over someone like Brice Johnson? No

And Fred didn't mess up by not going after Peter. We all knew Peter is a good player but his knees are on borrowed time. He's actually logged more minutes than I thought he was capable of.

Based on what? The recovery for a patellar injury like Jok's is very long, but it's a full recovery. It was a freak injury, not something that is going to come back to bite a player in his college career. Maybe a decade or so down the road, but not in the next 14 months.

Even if Jok stays at his current level or even improves, he will still be equivalent of Craig Brackins on next year's Iowa team. Talented but not talented enough to put the team on his back and carry them.

Pretty sure Fred wanted Peter Jok but stopped recruiting him after a grad assistant was at one of his games (which is illegal) so we stopped recruiting him to avoid NCAA penalties. Whether we would have gotten him or not, I dont' know.

Fred also wanted Uthoff but he was set on Iowa from the beginning.

What does that have to do with anything? Ben Simmons can only do so much by himself as well, doesn't make it his fault the rest of the team sucks.

Nobody wanted Jok out of HS including Fred. If Iowa didn't miss out on a couple of guys they wanted first he would have went to Drake.

What does us passing on Jok 4 years ago have to do with anything? He's a talented player but he's not talented enough to drag Iowa across the finish line. No "Peter and the Miracles" next year.

Before his injuries his soph year of hs, Jok was being projected as a 4-5 star recruit with interest from many blue blood schools (UNC, Kansas, MSU , etc). But after his injuries, everyone cooled on him except Iowa and Drake. He accepted iowa's offer before he got healthy again, which was a gamble on iowa's part that has paid off big. The kid can play, and I would've loved to have him here.

Is this post because of any inside info you have, or is this just based on looking at Rivals and seeing Jok didn't have a ISU offer. I have said as much, but some seem to insist that it is only because of the stuff pulled by Lefty and imply they have some inside info on that.

All bias aside the top 6 teams in big12 and big10 are pretty similar. Both tough as hell

It's about time someone put this out there. So sick of the hindsight is 20/20, we would have gone after a recruit rated sub 200 with only two other offers if not for lefty moore bs.
