I wonder if fred left now because he knew whoever took over could instantly get a head start with the team we have returning. Im sure if tj takes over he will be touching base with fred on a regular basis.

I would 100% bet that that is a way he justified it to himself.
That was the logic used to force Orr out for Fred's senior year.
Most likely. He's probably talked himself into the false idea that the backlash from the community won't be all that bad either. For a supposed people pleaser, this isn't going to sit well.
Really looking forward to his press conference where he attempts to feed the public platitudes in an attempt to save face locally. Should be highly entertaining.

This. He's getting involved with exactly the kind of people most of us would advise someone not to get involved with. It's not going to go well for him, because it hasn't gone well for anyone else in his shoes.

What this whole thing might do is finish the job that conference realignment did by removing the last bits of innocence or naivete to the whole college sports thing.
It should be pretty clear by now that it's not a pretty business, but it's plainly a business to its core for everyone involved. We've all enjoyed the sentimental parts of it, but it's always been about the money, and now the curtain's pulling back for all to see.
Whether that's good or bad is something everyone can decide on their own. I think this will probably remove a lot of the innocence and blinders that could still exist out there.

Maybe he left now because another 1st round NCAA loss would really change impressions of him.
This way if the team does well, Fred gets the credit. If the team does not do well, then the "Fred would have won it" posts would be resonating.
That isn't really "forcing someone out" when you are simply verbally telling someone it is an opportune time to quit their job.
Forcing someone out is when they are given an ultimatum......Resign or be fired.....You will not be coaching next year.
