Down goes #4 KU

And I am still perplexed as to how adding a 6'4" G/F in Burton solves ISU's depth problems. There just aren't going to be a lot of scenarios where he is going to allow McKay, Morris and Niang to not have to play 35+ minutes a game against the half dozen Big 12 teams that will be headed to the tourney. That's a lot of mileage those guys are going to have to put on the tires and thus, a lot of risk for injuries.

No doubt that KU's second squad is better/deeper than ours. But I like our starting 5 better. Fortunately it's a 5 on 5 game.

KU is probably built better for winning the league (18 game series). But we're built fine to hold our own against KU head to head, and I don't know that depth will factor that much into the NCAA tourney.

Diallo could be a game changer though.

I was listenting to KXNO Morning Rush today (stfu about it. don't care.) and Travis Justice was doing the old, "Oh ISU thinks the refs are out to get them and the whole thing about you can't go back and correct something once it's happened" and I wished that someone would have called in or sent him a tweet with the link to this: http://www2.kusports.com/news/2004/feb/26/big_12_refs/ Tell me again how we should shut up about the refs and just "overcome it"...
2004, man.

I won't even begin to figure out what teams are going to look like come tourney time for months. Lots of games and practices to go before then. And it will be interesting to see how the refs continue to call these new rules. In both the UK-Duke and KU-MSU games, they called a ton of fouls on the perimeter but let the teams bludgeon each other to death under the rim with nothing but the most egregious fouls called. Should be interesting moving forward.

ISU will have an 8 man rotation with Burton. Nader and Burton's size will give ISU some options with McKay and Niang on the bench to play small. Not that hard to figure out.

ISU doesn't need to play 10 guys like Self does. We could throw out a big for a five minutes a game like Self does with Mickelson but there's no point doing it if you don't have to

It's the price you pay being in a series like this. All three of KU's possible opponents in this series were in the Final Four last year. Yikes. Break down the film, see where you got exposed and then go from there. I guess the good part is that it nips any overconfidence in the butt before it ever has a chance to fester...

Is this KU's recipe for their recent post-season success?

You edited my post and good griefed me?

You own it.

I guess it ended up looking like that. I didn't intend that.

The good grief was actually at the thread in general, not you. I should have put that as a different reply.

It doesn't solve the problem. It helps.

KU is a 3pt shooter away from being a NC contender.

Yep. If Mason, Graham and Selden are all they have for guards, they will not make a run. Those guys are not consistent. You have to be able to create and make shots. They should be pounding it inside to Ellis every possession.

MSU football and MSU basketball both going to national champ games is a nightmare. I might quit my place of employment just to get away from the green and white circle jerk

I think you have the fan googles on we are far from being the best team in the nation

Punctuation and spelling are your friends. I think I pointed out very specifically I don't think we are the best team in the nation. However, a number 7 ranking, and most likely moving up, would suggest we are not FAR from it.

Typically the option to "play small" at the 4/5 isn't always a great one considering that those small guys have to play defense. You really feel that a 6'4" Burton is going to be a net + for a chunk of time going up against most of the players at the PF/C position in the Big 12? Alright. I guess we'll see soon enough. I have never seen the guy play at all so I'll take your word for it.
