Most of the time I get static when their show is on. When I happen to get their show, I wish the static would be on. Its just not a good combo.

They are a step above a sports radio update or chat when the sports guy doesn't know what he is talking about.

Actually, Travis and Ross got in trouble for having David Kaplin on because he was a sponsored guest of Miller and Brinson.

Miller and Brinson get pissy when their guests do other shows. They ripped Murph and Andy for having Zubin Mehenti on.

They made it sound like they can't get certain local guys because they already are on M & a or M & B. They do get off topic wayyyy too easily, but still enjoy the show.

Was that a "you can't have him on, period", or "you can't have him on, and on our dime"?

No idea...I just know he used to come on the show weekly this summer, and then suddenly stopped. There was mention about "another show getting mad about having their guests on". I put 2 and 2 together on my own.

That's kinda odd. I'd say M&B need to STFU. But I suppose they may be afraid of guest fatigue, and then lose a guest they brought in, to another show. And if that guest is getting paid by a sponsor that M&B signed up, then I understand that as well.

But if they just don't want CW on the morning show, simply because they want some exclusivity to him in the afternoon.....

To be fair, M&B have to go later after other local shows. Kills their prep/show thunder if their guests have already been heard over the airwaves.

Didn't they get on CW's case for doing Murph and Andy as well? And if I remember right is wasn't even a planned segment, there was some sort of "breaking" ISU news during M&A and they spontaneously decided to try and get CW on the line to get a quick take. I remember being floored that they seemed so peeved with CW about it.

People rip on Cottler, and he was bad at times, but he did weekly interviews with ISU coaches, Media members, and Walters and Heft.

I used to love hearing Eric's take on the coming game Friday mornings. And they would generally have John on maybe Tuesday or Wednesday?

Heck - didn't they even have Mitch Holtus in the AM? During training camp. That was a couple times a week IIRC. I don't care a thing for the Chiefs, but it was still decent programming for the area.

Give me Jon Miller and Steve Deace any day. Jon might be a Hawkeye homer but at least he researched his material before he spewed it on the air. And NOBODY knows more about college football than Deace.

Totally agree best Des Moines sports show we've ever had.

Yep... Miller and Deace was probably the best in terms of pure sports talk DSM has had. I do like Murph and Andy for my "guy talk with sports mixed in" type of show. The only time i listen to M&B is when they have guests on that i want to hear (I download the podcasts). Miller and Deace have been doing quite a bit of podcasting over on Hawkeye Nation (I've been listening to them all even with the B10 conference slant).

Miss Miller and Deace a bunch. I've been all XM in the morning since those 2 left. Great radio.
I enjoy Murph and Andy a lot as well but I also understand they aren't going to be all sports all the time. I look at the as "Maxim Radio" Guy talk all the time. HOWEVER, I turn it off whenever Tana comes on. Can't stand her

I stopped listening when I tuned in once when they were talking with Bruno about beer and one of those knuckleheads kept insisting that he had a question that he absolutely had to have answered concerning beer. When they finally got around to it, the question was:

How come some beer makes me fart?

Seriously? He made it sound like it was some deep, serious, thought provoking question and it ends up being about farts. What else do these guys do during the day, because I can't imagine them doing anything more than sitting around giggling about poop and fart jokes.

If KXNO would give Ken Miller a decent sidekick, that show could be really good IMO. Miller is pretty unbiased and I like the focus he puts on football and basketball locally. Bronson is too much of a "yes" man and a guy that reads and then spouts ESPN opinions too much. The other day they spent 20 minutes talking about the little league girl, for no apparent reason other than ESPN had done an interview with her. Does anyone here care? Guessing not.

Kenny has just been cursed over his career with partners. Tirrell, Perault. Brinson may be the best of the bunch. I swear though, the many can't say 3 sentences without responding "fair enough". And in odd contexts to boot.

It's driving me nuts. Who was Ken's partner way back when on the old Jock (??) during the AM slot? Wasn't bad, just stale.

That's what I hate about Brinson. He's too nationally focused. Perrault was a giant dbag but give him props, he kept the show local. Way too often Brinson is on a national topic and to be honest, 90% of those I don't give a damn about. Honestly, I could go with at least half of the NFL crap they have on now. If I wanted NFL coverage, I would listen to the national guys. Give me ISU and Iowa (sometimes UNI and Drake) talk and I'm golden. I don't give a damn about what Mike Florio has say. It's not like he's going to drop a bombshell on M&B instead of his own national program.

Don't understand the love for Miller. He never seems to be in a good mood about anything. I've never heard of him going to games or events either.
