If you want CPR gone, who do you want to be hired to replace him?

...and I refuse to believe thats not do-able. Kansas St. has done it. Iowa, much to my chagrin, has done it after having 20 non winning seasons in a row...It can be done.

Mack Brown could barely win with Texas recruits how the hell could he win with ISU recruits.

You must have forgotten the 2 national championship games he went to and the 1 he actually won. If that's "barely winning", I would love to "barely win".

Can't one of you guys do it? You're all so dang smart and you seem to always know exactly what's wrong and you are fearless in complaining about it.

What about Bud Kilmer? He's a pretty hard nose guy, and I think that is just what ISU needs.

Lane Kiffin. He wants to be a head coach again and he will learn a lot at Alabama this season.

So a cheater and all-around delta bravo that accomplished mediocrity despite putting superior talent on the field nearly every game he coached at USC is your choice?

I'm pretty sure anyone on this board could lead us to the place ISU football is currently in. Plus everyone on here would do it for A LOT cheaper.

Let's pull another Johnny Orr story and have Jaime Pollard call his old school Wisconsin and get some advice from Barry Alvarez only to have Barry ask how much are we paying and then he accepts the position. (Yeah I'm kidding here.)

I think Rhoads and staff have another two years at a bare minimum, and that would be less than four wins over that two year. How old is John Cooper? He legitimately seems to be a proud alum. I enjoyed watching the replay and hearing him speak to the team and announcers.

This said, I love CPR and blindly believe in him.

I could see one more year after this (likely 2-3 win) season, but if next year is another <5 win season, he should be gone.

Regardless of results CPR is here until at least through the end of 2017.
At this point it is clear he really has not developed any type of program in his first 5 years and his plan on how to do that was not only poor, but littered with some bad hires. Hopefully he puts his pride aside,

I'll never understand the mentality of those that just blindly follow Rhoads. He's never been successful in any part of coaching. Does he yell at people and throw fits at the ref? Yeah. But a 5 year old could do that too.

He's not a very good "X's and O's" coach and he sure as hell can't recruit. I just don't see how people can have faith in him. He's hasn't shown to be good at anything.

Without being dramatic and getting upset at me, can someone tell me what they like about Rhoads currently?

And to answer the questions of who I'd replace him with... I would love to see Sage get a chance. Maybe hire a guy from A&M or Baylor or Tech. An offensive mind from one of those systems. Plus someone with Texas roots wouldn't hurt. At this point in Iowa states place in college football, we won't be able to hire a bigger name for a price we can pay. We need to hire an unknown/up and coming guy.

All of that said, no chance Rhoads gets fired. That's the sad part. He has job security right now. Not sure how someone who's lost 2 straight to FCS teams can have that but that's iowa state football for you.

I like that we have actually beat some ranked teams......on the road even. I like that even in most of our losses we have at least had a chance to win. I like that he has called some epic fake punts and onsides kicks that we have recovered. The success rate we have had has been uncanny.

What makes you think that Sage should be our next coach?

So far for serious answers we have:
Lane Kiffen
Jim Tressel
Mack Brown
Craig Bohl
Mark Mangino
Aaron Keen
Seneca Wallace
Tom Herman

If you are gonna have the first two on there, might as well include Pelini. I recruited 7 4-stars in year one using ISU on NCAA Football 2013, might as well have me on there too.

That guy that sits behind me in section 5 and constantly yells that the other team is passing or running the ball. He really knows his stuff.

So we have:
Lane Kiffin
Chip Kelly
Jim Harbaugh

2 current NFL head coaches and the current OC at Alabama with head coaching experience at USC and Tennessee. We can barely afford our current coach's 10-year, $20 mil deal and yet some people actually think this is realistic?? Goodness. Seriously, our coach is the lowest paid in the conference.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised since many of the same fans calling for Rhoads to be fired after a bad 1.2 seasons were the same ones yelling to lock him up long term a few years ago.
