I'm ok with them as suggestions..... But I think requirements is too strong. I think they are right that they'll limit breaks and shorten them. I don't think this will last long,

I agree with this ban. Its dumb there is no reason to practice twice in one day. Hopefully they will accomodate and give them an extra week of practice

I would be happy as a high schooler, two a days seems dumb no matter what the sport. I would think you could be in shape enough with one practice a day.

My son has been complaining about 2 a days coming up for a few months (would be his first since he'll be a freshman), so he'd be happy to hear this. Big fella doesn't like to run.

I don't know many people that like to run. I absolutely hate running just to run, there are plenty of activities coaches can implement that involve actual fun instead of just running to run.

Football two a days were not that bad. Soccer two a days sucked since they were during the school year.

Yeah, I just say that because this kid, who will not clean his room to save his life, stayed late after practice to clean up the locker room (by himself) to make sure they didn't have to run hills or something. I'm hoping he decides to play again, as he's a monster for an incoming freshman at 6'0, 205, but ultimately it comes down to his choice.

Um, he may not like sports. Running is pretty fundamental in pretty much all sports. I guess swimming doesn't involve running, or golf.

The problem I have two-a-days is that HS football practices (at least in the Cedar Rapids area) have evolved past the 3 hour mark. Waste of time! What more do you need to accomplish by having 3+ hour practices...and then you feel the need to have the kids return later in the day for more? If two-a-day practices were 2 hours or less...I could understand. They are in HS! Let them have lives as well...HS football is becoming as much of a year-round sport as HS basketball is. That is not right...we wonder what happened to all of the 4 sport athletes...they are out there but many of their HS coaches won't allow them to play 4 sports anymore because their isn't enough time in a summer day to meet each coach's expectations!

More reasons why kids these days are being taught to be *******. I swear bullying is a jail time offence now.

I actually enjoyed 2-a-days in high school. A week of nothing but eat, sleep, football, and training. It really brings the team closer too, IMO.

2-a-days were a part of football. Yeah we all hated them, but looking back they really weren't that awful.

We would have a practice in the morning, weights, go over old game tape, & positional meetings in the middle of the day, then cap it off with another practice. If nothing else I'd say those 2 weeks or however long they were brought us together as a team more than anything.

& playing football at the HS level or above is your choice. If you'd rather have a lot of free time & have a life as someone else called it, ya might not wanna play.

Our football coaches encouraged us to go out for most other sports, & all but required track and field.

All this does is set Iowa even farther back as a High School Football state. Iowa bans 2 a days while southern High Schools not only have 2 a days but also spring ball.

If they are going to get rid of 2 a days at least they could allow spring football practices.

Exactly. Even in Illinois they allow organized practices all the way through summer.

They tried to tell our football team to run track, but that's soccer season. Most top athletes in Marshalltown did play 3 sports when I was in high school, sounds like it is still pretty much that way here.
