Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?

If AA doesn't perform, I say take off the Red Shirt and let's see Tiller's stuff. Next season is time for Iowa State to move to the next level. If AA is not the man to do it, then it's tiller-time.

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb!! Remove this thread for being too hawkeye-ish ******** stupid dumb. God... PB leaves and we lose a bad game and it's like the dang wheels fell off and we're sinking into an eternal losing streak... dumb.

Next year is our last "easy"schedule...then back to Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma for two years. We must break through next year. If getting Tiller some experience this season helps next year, I'm for it. Why is Chizik playing 11 true freshman this year and not redshirting them? Next season, that's why.

interesting....

just curious. ive heard lots of good things about Tiller. is he good enough to beat AA out for the starting job next year???

Very significant...

Really only time will tell, Tiller is spoken highly of. I think we will see another 2 qb system AT LEAST  until one quits or gets beat out... However i dont see Tiller leaving, he loves it here. so thats a plus.

Or just maybe we should have aspirations to be able to actually play with Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas instead of whining about how unfair the schedule is.

I'm not saying it's as easy as A&M, Baylor and Okie State, but there's no reason we should be assuming we are going to lose those three games and we have to "get it done" against the "easy" schedule. If we don't go bowling in the hard years, is it REALLY an achievement to do it in the easy ones?

I have not seen one thing that makes me think Arnaud is not the man and won't be one of the best QB's in the big 12 next year.

PLUS 1 for this post.

I swear if some of the people on here are this emotionally stable in their everyday lives, they need to be medicated.

There are still six games left to grow this season. This is a young team that had a bad night in Waco. It will get better, relax. The most important thing is recruiting, judging by the freshmen that play now, it's getting better.

Gene is being paid to be the coach, the responsibility falls on his shoulders as to whether or not to leave Tiller's redshirt on. He will do what is best for the program that he runs.

We've Got Bigger Problems than AA

Let me count them:

1) We don't play a full game. So far this year, at most in any game we've played 30 strong minutes. If those minutes were combined with OK play we might have another win or two. The problem is we look very good or very bad.

2) We have no running game. I'm afraid the problem is threefold:
    1. The spread offense is not a good running scheme.
    2. Our o-line can't sustain blocks.
    3. Our RB may be mediocre.
3) Our d-line doesn't control the line of scrimmage against the run and doesn't get consistent pass rush.

4) Our offense doesn't get the ball down field. The staff needs to figure ways to stretch opponent defenses. This dink & dunk stuff isn't working.

5) We commit too many costly penalties.

6) Our defense plays its worst on 3rd or 4th and long.

7) Our DB's allow opposing WR's to run lose in our secondary. I blame this to a degree on our lack of pass rush- but our safefies have been a liability all year.

8) YAC is a joke. Our RB's and WR's don't break tackles.

9) Our QB play has been inconsistent.

IMO I have been pleasantly surprised by Austin's play this year. I'd like to see us RS Tiller and there should be a QB competition during spring ball. On a team that might win 4-5 games- all positions should be up for grabs.

I do think that Arnaud is the guy, and I think he has the potential to be one of the better QBs we've had. He seems to have the intangibles, and he obviously has the physical tools.

Thought Gene said we needed our best players on the field. RS are overrated when you lack talent. I bet AA plays better if he has a real backup to help him.

Exactly.. you would hope to out recruit guys in 4 years.

I'm concerned that Chizik and the coaching staff may just end up being the good 'ole boy network. Chizik quickly hired all of his long time friends once he got the job.

I understand needing to have guys around you that you can trust and work well with on a professional and personal level, but I thought that for the money Jamie Pollard put up for the coaching staff salaries that we could get some guys with more proven resumes.

Wow

and I mean Wow,

Gene said we needed our talent on the field, that is correct. But to burn a redshirt for a back-up QB, makes no sense.

Now I am sure that JT will get plenty of snaps with the ones this week, but I doubt you see him, unless something happens to AA.

Cybsball is right, this is an opportunity to build depth. And we don't have that luxury at every position.

IMO, with this coaching staff, I actually see NO way Tiller makes it to the end of the year without seeing the field. The radio crew said the exact same thing last night on the radio.

And someone closer to the situation can chime in, but Tiller will be happy about it. He thinks he can win the job TODAY.
