Fouls 21 to 14. How does WV only get whistled for 14 fouls?!?! Their whole game plan is to beat the lard out of everyone they play! ......Lawrence, KS level home cooking.

Huggy is probably mad about that as he probably thinks his guys weren't aggressive enough. I expected our guys to get bent over on one end and in foul trouble on the other, and sure enough, they did.

The good news is that people's expectations are at an all-time low. I still think we finish ok. Maybe not great, but ok - i.e. NCAA's.

"Who can they beat in the Big 12 tournament? About the only chance would be if they end up a 7 seed in the play in game."

Anyone that thinks we can't beat any team in the Big 12 in KC is a serious pessimist. Without a few finely placed calls tonight, we would have been in the end of this game. There's WV, the Baylor game there was pretty close and we have beat everyone else at least once. KC is a pseudo home game for us. Don't be a putz

Thank you :) uh, Terminate the Head Coach.
Not because of this game, not because of our lack of depth, not because of his use of substitution or clock management, But more because of his lack of coaching effort. He didn't set up one play.

He didn't argue one call,

he hardly even praised a single effort by any of his own players. The only thing he's proven to me, is he knows how to suspend a player, and not communicate very well to the public (and probably his own team) IDK But what I DO know, is a team with this much talent has never underperformed (or underachieved) like this before. Coaching...

Following the reporters on Twitter, they said Prohm was all over the referees.

Game is easy to sum up:

- ISU played better basketball (IMO) in the first 35 minutes
- Officiating was absolute trash and played into WVU's hands (resulting in offensive rebounds and extra offense for WVU)
- Team was worn down in last 5 minutes which is where the game was lost (and where the game has always been lost this season)
- Burton was awesome
- Monte was awesome
- Thomas was good
- Nader was great (with a few careless turnovers)
- McKay was servicable
- Niang seems to struggle against WVU (lots of contact that isn't called while his fouls are generally pretty ticky tack)
- No bench

I believe our starting 5 is top 10, if not, top 5 in the country. Unfortunately there is zero depth.

I still think we end up a 6 or 7. The committee is watching and could place us there when we have 11 losses going into the tourney. Won't be a bad upset. Guess it beats getting humiliated by a mid major.
Sometimes I wonder why some people watch ISU sports when it clearly makes you so miserable. People are disappointed because the expectations were too high. It happens. This is a textbook team set to be overrated and disappoint. Lots of offensive talent and loaded with liabilities on defense. This terribly disappointing team is still going to be a 4-6 seed, making it one if the best teams in school history. Two wins in the tourney would equal the best result since 2000. This is what it is like for a good, not great program.

Do you really think 6 seed is really out of line?
Simple answer is yes. We will win the 2 home games and lose a close one to KU. Probably get a 4 seed but depending on how we do in KC might slip to 5 but if we win it then we are a 3 seed.

Don't like to be negative, however I would have to disagree with the bolded. ISU gave up 50 pts in the first half and 13 offensive rebounds.

I don't know how anyone can think this team can win in KC. There is like a 99% chance they play WVU, Baylor, or Texas in the first round who they went 1-5 against with the 1 win in Hilton

Like it or hate it, Prohm is never going to get too aggressive with the refs. If you remember when Prohm was hired, JP said that he went to refs to ask them to recommend well behaved coaches.

Today was as close to working the refs as you're going to see from Prohm.

We will win the next 2, lose to Kansas, finish the regular season at 21-10 (10-8), win one and lose one in Big 12 tourney, take a 4 seed into the sweet 16 where we lose. That would probably rank in the top 5 all time seasons of ISU basketball and yet it will be really disappointing considering the expectations for this team.

Sign me up for that right now. Disappointing when you think about the pieces that didn't fall into place before and during the season, but considering what transpired, I'd take that in a heartbeat right now.
