His 4.45 and 30 inch vertical is encouraging.

4.45 and 30" is still pretty incredible for a HSer. 4.45 and 36" is amazing.
Well, those might be guesstimates.

On the other hand, one little tidbit that I have been holding onto since I ran across it last Fall, is that he's one of the best sprinters in his District. I'll see if I can find the site again, but he ran something like a 21.6 200m to finish second at his district meet--which is certainly respectable. .

So yeah, I had been thinking he was one of the big sleepers of our class.

Now we just have to get the LOI signed.

I always like the 200 numbers better than the 100 numbers for getting an idea on stamina and speed. The 100's show a quick step, which is great. But the 200s show an ability to maintain speed.

Because there are so many times when a player has to run farther than 100 meters in a single play of a game.

Over the course of the game, I would say that specialty players are running several 100 meters. Let's not forget the field is 50 yards wide as well as 100 yards long. I have seen many a 100 meter running gassed halfway through football games.

But, if you want to just look at your 40 times and measure the recruits that way, go for it.

No one is saying it is not better to also have a good 200m time.
If you are choosing one over the other, 100m numbers are more relevant to football.

Further, "running gassed half-way through football games" has nothing to do with 200m vs 100m.

Sorry I forgot :jimlad: but since you want to get serious about it, running from corner to corner of a football field is still only 101.5 meters. I never said anything about a 40. I would rather see a player who can be fast on the football field. training to run a specified distance as fast as you can is one thing, being able to change directions and make quick moves on the field is much more important.

I guess we just disagree. I am still more impressed by a fast 200 meter runner than a 100 meter number.

KU has to have the lowest entry requirements in the world. Pierson was basically a non-qualifier at Mizzou. He decommitted, but they didn't want him back, and he somehow ends up at KU. Darrian Miller had serious looks from Iowa, who needed 2 RBs, and they pulled his offer, and no other school other than his initial choice jumped in. There is something going on with these two great recruits. Other than those, their class looks like ours.

If MU didn't want him back then why did they call him and try to get him back? I think Iowa backed off because of the problems they've been having with running backs and Miller has some issues. But if Gill can fix that, he could be a great get. Plus he's already in school and will be there for Spring ball. The entry requirements are the same for ISU and KU. Even with the Kenneth Lynn switch and ignoring KU's 2 4 stars, KU has 6 more 3 star players than ISU. So I don't think the classes look that similar.

Either does a 100 meter sprint. Are you bumping and trying to tackle a 100 meter runner while runs down the field? Is he wearing pads?

You have your preferences, I have mine. I say we leave it at that.

Neither does anything short of game play. You brought up 100m vs 200m. Out of those two, 100m is more relevant to football.
