I think when they mention the value of a degree from ND that they are factoring in the Catholic Church protecting individuals from criminal prosecution -- no matter how abominable the crime. So a degree from ND has that going for it...

Wow.

Playing for any certain school in the United States will not give you a better chance at the NFL over any other school. Playing well in an NFL camp will get you on a NFL team... Period. Your ND fan is an idiot. Playing in the Big12 will be playing against the best.

Playing in the Big10 for ND will mean nothing. Playing for the University he loves, and will/can leave a legacy at will mean everything.

They end. The man who claims to know everything, most likely knows nothing.

In theory your statement is correct, but in practice it is not. The simple fact of the matter is schools like Alabama, Florida, Ohio St, Michigan, Texas, and Oklahoma are, for the most part, able to pick the players they want to play for them, players which are more likely to develop into NFL talent, which is why NFL rosters are filled with players from these schools. I'm not saying ISU is incapable of putting talent in the NFL - I think in a thread from earlier this summer someone said ISU has more players on NFL rosters than we have ever had. It's just that ISU typically is not recruiting from the same pool of talent that those other schools are. When schools are recruiting from a pool of players that is mostly composed of 4 and 5-star players while we're recruiting from a pool that is mostly composed of 2 and 3-star players, obviously we're not going to have as many players in the NFL as those other schools.

Wow. You mean there are arrogant Notre Dame fans out there who think the world revolves around their beloved ND? I never would have imagined. ND fans also thought they were "elite" during the Davie, Weiss, et al. eras when they were decidedly mediocre at best. They also thought Ron Powlus would win 2 Heisman Trophies.

I have to laugh at his comment about academics. ND is sooo overrated in that regard. ND'll take a step back this year. They had a great season in '12, but they also had a year where they caught every possible break imaginable.

Why don't you ask your friend why a receiver who has NFL talent would want to play for a school whose passing game consists of throwing slant routes to the TE, when he could showcase his talents in the pistol spread offense?

Hold on, here comes the best part. It's as if this guy has no clue what irony is.

Klubber, I admire the team spirit, but come on, man. When's the last time any Iowa State receiver "showcased his talents" in our offense?

I think fans, generally, are getting increasingly amped about the rapidly approaching season and anxiety/excitement, whatever you want to call it, is causing many posters to be increasingly rude. I've been noticing this lack of civility on lotsa threads the last month or so: quick to criticise, all over meaningless errors, etc. It'll decrease once the season starts.

Some people have no control over it. It's cyclical. A cop friend of mine says they always get a lot more domestic abuse calls when there's a full moon (and especially when there's a full moon on a Sunday and the couple have had a full drinking weekend to really get liquored up and mad at each other). it's cyclical, predictable, just the way it is.

Uncalled for.

facts are facts

I can play this "facts" game. Is it your assertion that it is fact that all recipients of Notre Dame degrees receive protection from the Catholic Church for all crimes, no matter how abominable?

Aw c'mon guys! let's talk about football. How 'bout white helmets? Think they'll bowl in the south end zone? What's our record gonna be? Boy, those Hawkeyes sure are dumb, aren't they? Think Irving's pad level will be OK?

And to the cave we go

Normally I'd be against that, but for this thread I like the idea.

Everybody remember the time when Notre Dame football literally killed a guy when they sent him up on a scissor lift to videotape practice on a really windy day?
