Oh I'm sure someone's out there that can sustain 7ish wins even at a historically bad football school but who that is could be anyone from another bad school or coordinator, whatever. I'm not in the know of the depths of those options.

FWIW I'm not in the 'fire everyone and anyone' crowd but I'm also not sure how CMC is so appealing to a Nebraska since they need someone to get them to their 1990s dream land.

name some names.

I just said, I don't have names. I'm not versed enough on who's where and doing what but it's not like there's nobody whatsoever.

Why are you so convinced CMC is headed to Nebraska?

conference re-alignment really derailed CPR's program. He has two recruiting seasons where he couldn't tell recruits if we were even going to be p5 or not.
Conference re-alignment was the reason a competitive team was not fielded against FCS teams UNI in 2013 and NDSU in 2014?

On the other hand, I agree with you because you sure couldn't sell those amazing bowl game performances against top p5 competition like Rutgers and Tulsa.

Nah, Paul Rhoads and his staff derailed their own recruiting seasons. He always made excuses about why Ames was impossible to recruit talent to, and when we were safely secure in the new big 12, recruiting still sucked.

If all of the issues you repeatedly point out game after game (yesterday was not your first time ******** about it) are really issues, then he should be replaced. It's dumb to keep a coach with as many flaws as you point out and who refuses to change (as you point out). You can't possibly be arguing to keep a coach that is as flawed as you say he is.
Way to completely ignore what I said and continue your wild tagent, once again. Is there a reason you constantly dodge what im asking you?

I do think some coaches should be fired, if that makes you feel better. Campbell is not one of them.

And yet we're in the middle of realignment now and just landed our best class ever. Almost like we have good recrutiers now and didnt then

I think the issue with Rhoads was that he just wasn't a very good coach.

Kinda says a lot that "our best class ever" for 2023 is still towards the bottom of the recruiting rankings for the Big 12.

Oh 100% Campbell is a pretty good coach and motivator but may end up not being a good CEO, his career arc is trending more Paul Rhoads than I'd care to admit.
He's still only 42 years old. I'll take 6-8 wins each year and roll the dice that he gets things figured out and we jump up from time to time.
He will figure it out. I am not sure what it will take, but he will get it.

I really hope you are correct. Yesterday bothered me a lot because I saw some very familiar events transpire. I have been watching Cyclone football since September 13, 1986. That first game I remember cheering for a single touchdown being scored.

Here's my thing. We need CMC to stay here. However, he said when he got hired that he wanted to win a Big 12 championship at Iowa State. Not making the necessary staff changes (Tom Manning and Jeff Meyers in particular) will never get Iowa State there.

How can we go year in and year out with all these issues (special teams as always), and it never gets fixed?

Not making these changes is accepting mediocrity. I'll always be glad for what CMC has done for Iowa State, but we've become so stagnant recently.

A coach can be really good and just what a school needs at the time and still wear out his welcome or have the game evolve past his strengths without adapting. Remember Danny Mac? You won't find a fan that doesn't love what he did at ISU, but eventually it was time to move on. We're not there yet with Campbell obviously, but we ARE at the stage where we have to start asking ourselves why certain things have seen absolutely ZERO improvement after 6-7 years.

Tom Osborne was stuck at like 9 wins for like a decade at Nebraska until he took the program to a new level.

I get the frustration. And yes, we have a lot of problems with some things in the margins. But we just graduated probably the most accomplished group in school history, are 3-1 and down 6 to a 4-0 team.

These are legitimate gripes, but if it was simple to fix these things everybody would do it.
All of the things the OP listed are staples of this coaching staff. They are THE single most consistent “things” about this staff. Many, many, teams - including mediocre ones - don’t have these systematic issues year after year. I’d love to know why these specific issues are seemingly impossible for this coaching staff to fix.

Think how legendary this staff could be if they just “simply” addressed these issues, to the point where Iowa State football was just ‘adequate’ in these areas. We would for sure be 4-1 this year, and undoubtedly wouldn’t have wasted our most talented roster ever last year.

The staff has done some amazing things these last 7 years. Literally the ONLY thing holding them back is themselves. Not talent. Not athletic department or fan support. Not the schedule. Not recruiting.

Think about that. Iowa State football is doing a million things right. Iowa State football is relevant and has real and valid expectations. Absolutely nothing is standing in this coaching staff’s way for them to GRASP the opportunity and finally (truly) elevate Cyclone. Except themselves.

I honestly think people struggle with how difficult it is to consistently go 4-5 to 6-3 in a P5 conference. Name me all the schools that have made a bowl in the last 5 consecutive years. That list is maybe 15-20 schools.

This was dumb as **** the last 4 failed coaching hires that you pulled this. It's not a fans job the have intimate knowledge of what coaches may have interest in a job.
We'd still have pleated pants if it was up to her
