No salary cap.Why a talented basketball player would want to play in the SEC is beyond me.

It's just lazy competitiveness to call the SEC flat out terrible and this is coming from someone who as a general rule hates the SEC. The SEC stinks when compared to the Big 12, Big 10, ACC, PAC 12 etc... but they still have a number of excellent programs that are very competitive.
The SEC is 2nd in number of players on NBA rosters at the start of the '13-'14 NBA season. 1: ACC - 67 (15 each from Duke and Carolina) 2: SEC 57 (21 from Kentucky), 3: PAC 12 - 51 (9 from Arizona) 4: Big 12 - 33 (14 from Kansas) 5: AAC - 28 (12 from UConn) 6: Big East - 27 (6 from Georgetown) In other words, the number of NBA players that did NOT go to Kentucky is 36, which is STILL more NBA players than from the Big 12. http://rpiratings.com/NBA.phpmore NBA talent in the SEC than any other league, of course majority is at UK

Talking about drive times. I drove from west Omaha to Rogers in five hours. Ames should not be much more. I also drove from Rogers to Austin in eight hours. His parents can go to the games easy enough, just keep the foot on the gas.
Weslybot travels via 56k modem.Ames to Rogers is about 6.5 hours. Very reasonable.
Also, there is no way that you drove from Omaha to Rogers in 5 hours, but your point stands.
He had to have a lead foot to do it, I travel to Omaha and with 1 quick stop for gas can do it in 5.5 hours. Kansas City is the great unknown, depending on traffic you can add 15-30 minutes or drop 15 minutes if you are lucky.Ames to Rogers is about 6.5 hours. Very reasonable.

Pac12 will be better than the ACC this year too. They will likely get Arizona, Oregon, UCLA, Utah, and Colorado into the field. Oregon State and Stanford will both be right there on the bubble. The SEC will get Kentucky and Florida in. The bubble will be Arkansas and Tennessee.
Replace Tennessee with LSU or Georgia and I'd agree with you.
Malik is the best Arkansas high school basketball player since Corliss Williamson. We really need to put out all the stops to get him. Hope he doesn't go to Kentucky like everyone else, we already went through that with Archie Goodwin a few years ago and he was almost ran out of the arena when he came back "home"

Does anyone know if Monk is very interested in us at this time? Obviously we know the coaches have watched/visited him and we offerred, but I've noticed that neither ESPN, 247, or Rivals even has us on his list on their recruiting sites. Maybe that doesn't mean anything, idk.

Who knows but he follows Hoiberg and 1 Iowa State fan on Twitter so that can't hurt. Hate to be negative but until ISU lands one you almost have to assume every top 10 recruit is a long shot. I trust that Fred will land one eventually.Does anyone know if Monk is very interested in us at this time? That won't change by landing one. Unless you are UK, top-10 recruits are long shots.
