Justin Webster
Sheldon Croney
Mitch Harger (Walk-On)
Clifford Kwah-Mensah (Walk-On)
Kene Newangu (Signed)

Wow, just wow. So to everyone not worried about Thomas leaving, what happens if Warren gets hurt? This is setting up to be another dumpster fire season 6 months before kickoff.

Who's Jake Rhoads? The former coach's son. Hard to believe that he may not be on board. Once again, it's freaking twitter.

Well, he was part of team up until recently. You say its freaking twitter, well I counter with its a freaking sports message board. Who cares if we do talk about it.

Mac's so called best class was in 2002. About 6 guys total from that class actually played/made an impact. There is a reason he was fired too. Not sure why the other guy is so dead set on arguing about recruiting class rankings. They usually do correlate with results.

Talking about it is fine. I'll choose to chuckle at the panic, however. It's hilarious and I would have it no other way.

Yes Andrew Smith is just some dude and Jake Rhoads is the son of our former coach so his outlook on the situation is probably going to be a bit more dark than the average player, but as i posted earlier in the thread I've heard from a source very close to the program that more than a few players ,in some degree or another, share this sentiment of Andrew Smiths tweet.

Way up there
Thomas could be missed in short yardage situations but Lanning can be a FB a la Austen Arnaud, Monty had a lot of potential but never really lived up to it, he is replaceable. These moves are nothing to worry about.

If you think losing Joshua Thomas is setting up for another dumpster fire season you're crazy. It's not ideal but it's not something I'm going to lose sleep about

Josh Thomas did well for a freshman RB. At the same time, we did sign 2 very good backs in Montgomery and Kene. I can see them being just as good or better than Josh Thomas. And then add in Trevor Ryen and Sheldon Croney. I am not that worried.

I said a long time ago that I thought D'Vario would not be back. And I was told that I was nuts.

IMO, Ayeni and Luna will also leave the team because of all their injury problems. There are lots of others also that will leave for one reason or another. That is just reality.

So who rated that Bruce class then? And how much film/research could people really do at that time any way?

Can you at least say the publication that rated our class #2. I'd really just like to see it.
I can't speak for the "#2 ranking" part, because I didn't start following recruiting until the next year. But I can tell you that the very next year, Blue Chip Magazine rated high school seniors like John Elway, Dan Marino and Eric Dickerson tops at their positions in football. Basketball had guys like Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins and Ralph Sampson. I think it's safe to say that they knew what they were talking about "back then".

Pretty sure this staff is moving towards H-backs/true fullbacks for short yardage situations. I liked Thomas's potential, but not gonna lose sleep over him being gone. Best of luck wherever he goes (unless it's UNI).

David Montgomery is the same size as Josh Thomas was last year. Montgomery has a bit more speed. Both Montgomery and Kene will likely play this coming year according to reports. Kene is alot like Warren and has even more quickness supposedly.

I feel like I let you guys down... I was just going to start a thread before this came out.

Heard through come people close to football players that about 20ish players have left or are leaving the program. TWENTY. Reasons why: Campbell to business like and staff about winning, not family oriented like CPR, coaches spending time on young guys and new recruits has been taken wrong way by older players, etc.

I fear these two are the first of many....

It sucks that players feel this way. Has to be hard on the players that are no longer with the team. Mac did the same thing years ago.

Yeah, I don't get the concern. RB is a position that you can play early. Just like Thomas did last year. Sure he was a decent short yardage back, but for the most part he was busting out 1-3 yard runs other than the long one at Baylor. David Montgomery is going to be the same size this fall as Thomas was last fall. He can handle it. Or if not, Croney or Hargis can. I'm not concerned.

IDK who Andrew Smith is, but Indian Outlaw (person who RT'd it) is Jake Rhoads. Paul Rhoads son.

I realize a RT isnt an endorsement but I found this interesting considering I've heard from a good source close to the program that there is a group of probably 12-15 guys on the team that share this same sentiment as Andrew Smiths tweet.

UMMMM didn't boneheaded mistakes cost he last staff some wins?
