I agree. And get rid of the stupid two years of college requirement before going pro.
If each nfl team had a lower level affiliate like in baseball, I think they should but it up to four or when you get your degree, because at that point football players are going for an education

I try to look at this as a positive for ISU. Recruiting advantages over non-power 5 schools, and we could potentially get some things that would really benefit us. Rhoads has talked about how not being able to pay for a recruits family to attend official visits is a huge road block for us. Maybe that's something that will change under the new autonomy

It would be interesting to see the steep dropoff for the non-power 5 schools.

I think suggesting that the primary reason people watch college athletics is because the players don't get paid, as opposed to cheering for their school's sports team, is incorrect.

Sure, some people would find it less compelling, but I don't see that significantly changing fan interest.

While I don't particularly like it, I do think it has the potential to help us. We could get a real advantage over the non-Power 5 teams with which we compete for recruits. Not sure how much extra put full cost of attendance would have for a Texas kid versus going to Rice, Houston, or SMU but it certainly could help.

I don't think it's about people no longer supporting or following their own team. I think it's about them becoming to the point that they only follow their own team and stop caring about watching others. If (and that's a big if) that happens, that's when things would start to normalize. Alabama may have a large fanbase, but it's not large enough to carry if only Alabama fans are watching Alabama games.
