Wait, I saw somebody say "Charles Barkley but a Kevin Love type would be even better".

Wasn't Chuckwagon on the NBA top 50 all-time team?

Great commit, Freddie! Georges appears to be the real deal, and I look forward to seeing him in Cardinal and Gold.

Not going to lie, the icing on the cake is the head to head win versus FrannyMac. Has to sting if you're a hawk fan. As a result, we get gems like this from posters over at Hawkeye Nation.

Not sure I can make sense of Niang signing with the Cyclowns. In the article written after his visit he discussed calling McCaffrey all the time to talk about basketball, life, playing ball in the NE etc., and we lose him to Transfer U. So if I am a high school kid and I have a little bit of intelligence and I look at the philosophies of the two programs, why would I pick ISU? I can come to Iowa and actually build something or I can go to Ames and roll the dice on whether the community organizer is going to bump me with another one and done transfer.

Comparing him to Cougill is silly. He has played against better competition his entire life and has more legit D1 offers / interest. Something seems weird about this....guess I will believe it when I see it. If true, I definitely think we lost a good player with a high ceiling. Still bizarre that he claimed to have such a strong relationship with McCaffrey, yet signs with an unproven coach in a decaying conference.

A great pickup by all accounts.

We could use an enforcer. Pack 20lbs in muscle on this guy and wham! FINALLY SOME GOOD NEWS. More in the pipes I hope!

If he dedicates to the weight room he has potential to be unstoppable. Great pick up for Fred and Cyclone Nation! Welcome to the fam!

Get the kid to put the "X" in P90X - that will cause him to fill out pretty quickly...

I don't think iowa was ever in serious contention, it was mostly just a courtesy visit to stop in iowa city after he made his Iowa State trip. I was more worried about Big East offers.

mccaffery is really struggling recruiting, his staff is likely scouring the prison systems as we speak looking for another hubbard.

It sure doesn't help him to have the "community organizer" in the same state cleaning up.

What??? You're crazy! According to all 12 of their basketball fans, by the time the felon is in his 30s, iowa will be 'back' in the final 4.

Such delusions. Typical squawks. After they win the BCS championship this year, they will take home both mens and womens basketball titles!

Oh, and of course, they didn't really want Niang. Even though they just offered him a few months ago.

If he's a Kevin Love type player does that also mean he's similar to Tyler Hansbrough? I would put those two in the same "I'm not the tallest, fastest, highest jumping guy", but I'll sure as heck play my butt off category.

Nice get. I see Niang as a higher level Doug McDermott type player (without being scared of competition). He's not the most athletic player, he's just a really good player.

I really like what he had to say about RW. Landing Percy would give us a solid set of Posts spread through the classes. Losing Godfrey may just work out well.

No, both of those guys were highly ranked McDonald's all-american types and in the NBA. Niang is not considered a top100 guy at this point.

Of course they were highly ranked, Love went to UCLA and Hansbrough went to UNC. If Niang gets offered and goes to one of the blue-bloods, he'd be top 100/McD AA too.

I don't think Love and Tyler's games are all that similar.

Agreed. Obviously Doug knew there was at least a 50/50 chance that his dad wouldn't be his HC the entire time he would have been at ISU and that is reason enough to look elsewhere.
