But how do we celebrate a win without separating the true fans from the fake fans, shaming other posters, and personal attacks? I'm so confused.
A real fan isn't confused. That's your first problem.

From the sounds of it he had total control and didn't want to change his ways to suit the players he had. CPR called him out on it and he didn't like what CPR had to say.

Like many I saw Lanning in the Ia State Championship game and liked his ball handling and power run game. Simply put he brings an extra threat the D needs to watch for. He's not the pure passing threat we see with most B12 teams but he freezes the linebackers because he can plow through the line like a fullback. Defenses can't play the same way when we have SR in. SR is perhaps a better pure passer but D's can play pass defense with SR in as no threat to run. Now if I can see that why couldn't Rhoads? I fault him for being stubborn to the point of being fired. Lanning and Warren had the best pedigrees coming out of HS. Why did it take the coaches so long to use them? Go back and Google Warrens HS highlights on YouTube. He made defenses look like they had suction cup cleats. He was a 4Star ranked player. He starts on any B12 team. Why didn't our coaches see that at the season start?? Finally, you may think our D played great. They did and deserve praise. But the O stayed on the field and controlled the clock allowing the D to rest. When has our D ever had that luxury? Just think back over the past few seasons about the high powered offenses the B12 has had. Everyone thought they had great D's right? Until they played great teams in bowl games and their O's couldn't ball control and they had to play longer stretches on defense. Suddenly they yielded points and the pressure is shifted to the offenses. Long point here but if your O doesn't stay on the field your D gets exposed. Tonite our D looked unlike the ISU D we usually see but the simple reason was our O controlled the clock enough to have really fresh legs out there on D. I don't give Rhoads the credit. We should have beaten Toledo and Iowa with Lanning and Warren in both games.
People forget that Texas has won the national championship before.
So has Minnesota, who we beat in a **** bowl... OMG 8-24 is totally worth it.
Sorry, carry on.

I think that everyone believes that Paul Rhoads is a good person. But one victory is not a turnaround. When Lanning came in against Baylor, the game was effectively over. Yes there was time left, but Lanning was put in to get experience. Yes the team did play well, but I thought that Baylor let up and played relative flat the rest of the game. Texas showed up flat and never responded. After ISU scored against Texas, a stat was put on the screen that showed that Texas was 0-10 under Strong when the opponet scored first. That stat is now 0-11. We will find out in the next four games if this team has turned it around.

You must not have watched the game I watched. Baylor never took their foot off the gas. They were trying to make a statement. They were trying to 70 point us and stomp on us.
Baylor had their starting QB in the game in the 4th quarter with 5:31 left which is when Seth Russell was injured. And they ran him on a 3rd and 5 play when he got injured. Perhaps if Briles wasn't trying to pile it on, then his starting QB would not have gotten injured.
This is why I have no sympathy for Briles and Baylor. It sucks for Russell, but if Briles wasn't trying to run up the score he would probably have a starting QB who would still be a Heisman candidate. As it is, he probably now loses a couple of games and they don't get a chance at the playoff. If you want to make a statement to the committee, try scheduling someone with a pulse in the non-con.
Why does everyone keep saying it's just one game. If you were actually paying attention and being objective you would have noticed we started to show we could be a decent football team against TCU and Bayor. The Texas game just happened to not be against a top 5 team in the country.
With the rise of other Texas schools like TCU, Baylor, A&M, and Houston (a bit), we may never see Texas rise to the their one time fame.
This weekend will be the true indication, Lanning's first full game against a strong opponent on the road. Mangino is out for his 2nd game.
Old ISU would get taken to the woodshed quickly, if things are truly turning , new and improved ISU should be competitive for 3 quarters. Within 10 at the end of 3, and then maybe lose by 20 after running out of gas in the 4th.
That would convince me things are trending in the right direction.
If we are down by 21 at halftime, then playing them "even" in the 2nd half does not mean much.
