True; TCU, SMU, & Houston offer little in the way of TV sets, but one of them may be a logical choice in order to restore the Big 12 South division back to 6 teams if you add two in the North (BYU-Air Force).

I swear, Pickens thinks he knows everything about everything solely because he has $$$ to throw around.

TCU adds nothing to the Big 12 except adding another piece of the pie needing to be handed out. TCU is just a horrible idea for the long term liability of this conference.

Wait a minute. Wasn't it T. Boone Pickens making fun of TCU and its small stadium in last year's shrinking of the Big 12? At that time, he had zero interest in adding TCU to the conference, and now he suddenly wants them. If you want to see the video, look it up in the ESPN Big 12 blog archives. Either he is flip flopping due to a lack or better options, or he is trying to throw TCU out there as a distraction.

This does seem extremely unlikely, but fun to imagine. The Big 12 would be stronger than the old Big 12 with these changes.

North
Pitt
Notre Dame
Iowa State
BYU
Kansas
Kansas State

South
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
Texas
Texas Tech
Baylor

I realize it's just speculation not happen, but that's the #1 basketball conference almost every year over the past decade, and the #2 football conference most years.

Our 10 team setup this year without the two historically worst Big 12 teams is easily the toughest basketball conference.

Guess people ahve lost interest in Boise State. We need Pitt for the east, BYU for the West, and AF for Colorado and national. I am not sure AF can field a huge football team in the new Big 12. TCU might not be bad. If they went Big 12, they would get more fans and a bigger stadium. Jerry Jones might let them play in his house. TCU is associated with Disciples of Christ (Protestant) since 1873.

We can put them in our Good Old Time Religion Division withg BYU, ND, SMU, Baylor and TCU and KU evolutionists.

I'm starting to form the opinion the B12 isn't going to raid any other AQ conferences. I think we have a gentleman's agreement with the BE and ACC.

Given that info, I'm beginning to believe BYU, Air Force, and 1 more (Houston, UCF??) will be the play.

I also agree with whoever said the more teams that reach AQ status, the harder it will be for the Superconferences to form at 4x16. Too many teams starting to be left out.

Probably still a 50% chance we add BYU and stop there for now too.

Boise State would meet their doom in the Big 12. We don't allow partial qualifiers. Partial qualifiers are the building blocks of their success.

While it doesn't add new demographics, TCU adds prestige to the power of the conference. I'm all for BYU, but it seems like Air Force would consistently be bottom feeders in the conference. I really get the feeling that this thing is going to implode.

It's funny how a few years of good football can create a reputation of "prestige". Really TCU? There is more to adding a team than just football. I mean it's mostly about football but TCU is good right now...who is to say they will stay that way when their coach gets lured to another program.

Anyway...there is a lesson to be had here...win and it erases an identity of years of suckiness.

EDIT:Turns out I don't know what I'm talking about. I just don't see TCU as a big name. Decent academics but only 10k students. Good record in a crappy conference with some good wins against ranked opponents. Still I vote no.
