I saw plenty to be pleased about today. Never easy to lose, especially in O/T, but I could see many examples of where Campbell is making progress. If he makes progress during the season, and from season to season, then I am happy. Our wins will come - although the trolls will still find fault with something or someone.

That was a tough one to swallow. Against a suspect passing game our secondary was a sieve. Stanley played better than I expected but he flat out missed 3 easy TD's on long passes. He could have had 400yds and 7 or 8 tds today. It was also frustrating to see we still can't close a ballgame or consistently catch the football.

Yes the secondary was not good today. The corners and linebackers got burned a lot in coverage. The secondary was suppose to be a strength of this defense I thought?

Hate the idea of moral victories, but I'm proud of our guys today. We forced them to pass and they executed. Our defense forced a ton of 3rd and longs and the Hoks converted.

Some thoughts:
BF called a good game (puke)
Montgomery is a ******* stud
Our lines aren't as bad as perceived

There was a lot that was nice. Offensive performing on a level that will win big 12 games. The defense did step up and make some big stops, though obviously one short of what was needed.

Can certainly ***** about some calls as well.

Felt like we pulled off the gas on offense towards the end there. With ~3 minutes left, it felt like we were playing as if we could run clock when Iowa had all 3 TOs left (and used them). Burned very little time and had a completely non-effective set of downs. Similar story with a minute left and us just needing a FG to win, though at least that was more understandable with a minute left and the ability to run clock for OT.

My takeaways:

-Iowa is screwed when Wadley inevitably gets killed on a bubble screen or shallow cross. He's their whole team on offense.

-ISU is screwed because we can't tackle

-really officials? And to a point really Iowa? Bad no calls from the refs, is Iowa the WVU of CFB?

-ISU needs to be less greedy in the passing game we could have nice success dinking and dunking all game

Iowa got called for 10 penalties. ISU got called for 2. Come on man. You really think ISU only committed 2 penalties the entire game? There were missed calls on both teams, like there are with any game. Officiating was not the reason ISU lost.

Possible but which one was as obvious as Vandenberg tackling Moya with no flag? That's one of most obvious missed calls you could ever see and on a drive where less than 7 loses the game.

Just finished watching on delay. Offensive pi was absolutely horrible no call and critical in the outcome. Someday I'd love to watch a game where officiating doesn't impact outcome.

That's a pretty odd thing to be fixated on after a game where Iowa had 5 times the penalties called against them that ISU did.

Heck, one of the TWO calls Iowa State had against them all day was an intentional delay of game.

Mudiay or whatever grabbing Lazard by the neck collar AND holding on to his sleeve on that back shoulder throw in OT was just as bad.

Until we reach a bright future I'm done looking for one. A loss like today is a prime example of we don't know how to win yet.

Hope it changes but until it does we are the same old cyclones

I agree with you its the same old cyclones still clinging to their same old losing ways

@Shawker

Im sorry, is a defensive player holding both of the receivers hands and jersey collar down without turning his head toward the ball once, all while the ball is in the air not pass interference?

In the second picture below, the ball is literally 6 feet away from Lazard and the defensive player is holding both his arm and chest down and isn't even trying to turn his head.
