But this team does not have many if any shooters. Going 0 for 9 for example is not on TJ, when many if not most of these shots were good looks.

I disagree with that. Of the 200 minutes available to players in the game today, 164 of those minutes went to people TJ brought in. These are his guys, this is the team he built. They were built to play hard and have, but not real well if it comes down to scoring. That isn't going to change until some different players with the skills needed get in here.

So the team with the #9 defense gets outscored by 18 points in the 2nd half against the 95th rated offense in the country. I wonder what the odds of that happening were?

Highly ranked defense but leaky especially at crucial times.

Well true. He needs to bring in some shooters. He also needs to develop an inside, out, inside game and not totally rely on 3 pointers.

To TJ's credit he has not had the advantage of a full recruiting cycle yet.
Edit: I am trying to be nice to TJ and the present circumstances. It is becoming a hard hill to defend.

It really feels like this is the case. If so, that’s maybe fine this year.

But the lack of ability to make the next adjustment when the other team does, is concerning. If you watched any South Dakota state games, or UNLV games, this isn’t a recent phenomenon

Lol I can’t imagine watching SD or UNLV games. On our last loss, some poster said TJ should have dumped all of the “Prohm players.” If he didn’t seem to bench Enaruna too for things, I would really wonder if he thinks along the same lines. I just know at key points when he bricked yet another corner three, I was praying Grill would drive or pass and not shoot, they left him open on purpose

Careful- I got a bunch of crap for pointing out that reality weeks ago.
People need to check their expectations on Lipsey. I think he will be a nice player, but he’s 185th on 247. He’s going to be a nice player for ISU, but he’s probably going to be a role player next year, and he is not really a perimeter shooter right now.

As a comp, Tre Jackson was 210th. I am excited for the new guys, but I don’t expect Lipsey to come in and tear it up in year 1. King, Lipsey and King are going to be nice additions, but none will be better next year than IB has been this year.

I just really worry this is what tj wants...slow, defensive struggle, with a mid major offensive philosophy and mid major offensive skill sets...and that won't work here, not long term...at some point you have to score, and I just don't see the basketball intellect or creativity here at all

hopefully he is more offensive minded than he is showing

I was hoping for more Grill analogies and jokes in this thread. LIke in 2015, all the sudden someone decided it was bad to use wire brushes to clean your grill off...the little wire things might get in your food. I'd like to see the risk assessment data on that. I still hope we can fire up the Grill.....

he's using the pieces he has, which are offensively limited.
