I disagree about the refs. No question we played like we were entitled to win this game and played flat, but the fouls were 10 to 3 in the first half in favor of Texas and we were drawing all kinds of contact around the rim but couldn't get a call. 2nd half wasn't quite as bad, but they missed a load of travels. Yet, we could have and should have won even with the s****y reffing, but we had no passion to get it done. So let down right now.
I'm sorry if this offends, but if you have watched college basketball in the last, say 30 years, you will notice a trend. Teams that play hard and with passion get the calls. Teams that stand around and reach get called for questionable fouls. Happens every game, year after year.
We lost because we were too cool. No passion at all. Watch the Texas huddle and they were looking at each other, talking, eyes wide open. Watch our huddle, and guys just shuffled back to the sideline, guys looking away while Fred talked, noone even paying attention. As I said before, Fred needs to see that, pull the a guy, chew his ***, and make him watch until he is ready to go in and play hard.
And what happened to the inside out offense. We had a stretch this season when we won some games where the offense ran through Royce in the post. He got it, read the defense, and made a pass that lead points or to a pass that lead to points. Tonight, it was back to everyone standing around the 3 point line, pass it around, then someone casting up a 3. Disappointing. The only upside is we will be underdogs in our first round game, and maybe we play hard and cover.
