And what I’ve been saying (and what has been unintentionally proven via references to the 2015 team) is that problems you have early in the season don’t just disappear. They tend to cost you in major ways, especially in March. All of the “don’t panic!” stuff is missing why it’s being talked about at all.

No one is saying "don't panic" though, they are disagreeing with what the problems are and how severe they are.

I said the players were fun to watch. I never said anything about that year’s team specifically. All of those guys played more than that one season. I’m again very confused as to why this is some sort of gotcha when the complaint is the offense isn’t dynamic enough
I personally would like to see more consistency from the offense, but every team is going to have a few “off nights”. The season is way too early to know if the offense will be similar to last year or an offense with more fluidity. It’s easy to be more fluid in non-pressure situations. This tournament is the first time this season they had any pressure. Let’s see how they will adapt from this experience

Hopefully if we get Ward back he plays more on the wing…but I’m not sure ”our year with him“ makes sense. He doesn’t look like he’d bee an all American in some other system, he just needs time and he already chose ISU over other great programs so I assume everyone will be patient.

He’s not going to wait around a year for an opportunity here. He’d probably go to the g league before doing that.

We are going to totally waste our year with him. I’m very confident Omaha would shoot higher 3 point percentage than some of these guys firing away…

“But if we don’t play him much, we’ll get him back again next year!”…. don’t be too sure about that. He might be one of those that gets picked anyway on potential alone…. or he says “F ISU” and transfers to somewhere that runs a lot better system.

Or goes to G League as someone just mentioned. It sure sounded like he was going to be a one and done in college no matter what. So he likely already has other plans than ISU next year no matter how this year goes. He might not like school at all…. it’s not for everyone.

It’s not like he’d be starting in g league right now, only if a team spent a first round pick on him and paid him a chunk.

He gets an opportunity every game and he gets in foul trouble or misses easy rebounds with exception of the one game he played well. It’s not like TJ has him on the end of the bench.

There’s no “wasting his one year”. That’s absurd. Milan is playing because he’s elite at some things, Omaha just needs time. If that time has to be somewhere else it’s not that TJ “wasted” his time.

A yearly reminder that the greatest team in Iowa state history lost to drake on its way to 32 wins and double big 12 championship
and a reminder too that this very team that most of you are down on right now lost to Creighton by 3 in a closed scrimmage. Some of you folks need to chillax

The team will be fine

You don’t think the NBA drafts on potential? They don’t need to see it proven on the court. It’s insane who gets taken some years. Omaha could have been in the G League this year had he chosen that route.

Halliburton is a great example.of drafting on potential. He was not a lottery pick based on output alone.

Everyone just reacting my posts with dumb but won’t actually argue with me. Change my mind on Curtis Jones! I’d love to have any optimism on him but he seems like the worst player we have
It doesn't do any good to argue with you now but, we're telling you that we think he's help this team and when that consistent stretch of games comes for him, we expect you to admit being wrong

I will say this--to say he's the worst player we have is just laughable

You must be best friends with him.
He is going to have to play a lot more

He just has not shown that he deserves more time. It seems his offensive skills have been greatly exaggerated or doesn't fit into our offense very well. The fouls seem like he is trying to do too much.

For OB, it looks like the game is a little too fast right now, Thinking is slow, reacting is fast.

Reacting requires repetitions. Those repetitions are happening every day.

Reacting will arrive.

It also isn’t High School JV basketball. TJs job is to win games this year. Sure, you give guys with high ceilings a lot of opportunities, maybe more than his play on the court suggests, but there has to be a limit.

He will probably get to the point where his play earns him big minutes. But he isn’t there yet, and every game matters when it comes to the tournament.

No, I don't want to do that. People should be allowed to speak their mind, I just think calling players garbage or no talent isn't really warranted. That's just my opinion.
Right, that type of language isn’t warranted. The VAST majority of posters here though are not using that type of language. A few are - block them and be done with it. It is that freaking simple.

Many of the critical posters are not using personally derogatory language, yet are called out INSTANTLY by a “holier than thou” army. And army that apparently feels compelled to patrol every post meticulously and personally retort anything that doesn’t meet their brand of (toxic) positivity, claiming they are the true fans, the true realists, the true holders of truth and perspective, desperate to “counter-attack” the poster who simply shared a passionate Cyclone sports opinion - on a free message board…where opinions are to be shared. It’s much, much harder to block this entire annoying army than it is to block the idiot posters who personally attack players, etc (which again - is very, very small number of posters).

It’s OK to wonder if we’re actually a bad shooting team (yes, even after only 6 games).

It’s OK to worry that some of the ‘bad’ offensive themes of the last couple years are still going to plague this team.

It’s OK to be a bit bummed at the performance of the squad the last couple nights and worry that this team actually isn’t the most talented roster of TJ’s tenure.

It’s OK to be frustrated. You can rest comfortably tonight that no one here thought we were going undefeated; it is OK to lose games and it’s also OK to be frustrated when (and how) those losses come. The team does not look like a good team right now. And that’s fine too, long season ahead to flip things around…

Not the best time to use Creighton as a pick me up after what Colorado State just did to them.

But I agree, they will be fine. I am thinking this year might end up being a lot like last year. Not overly athletic, still a bit challenged on the offensive end. Not great but not bad. Is what it is.

Halliburton was an excellent college player. He shot 43% from 3, was one of the best off the ball defenders in college basketball. He had a 3:1 A:TO. His last year at ISU he averaged 15, 6 and 7. He wasn’t a Buddy Hield type college player, but he was a terrific PG on a bad, poorly coached team.
