I wonder if I was in JM's place and I was the one that punched a women like that with video evidence if I would still be in prison?
A picture is worth a thousand words. It's one thing to read about a violent act, and entirely another to see the act. Ray Rice never got another NFL opportunity in part because he was on the decline already, but don't think the elevator video didn't play a role in that as well.I also don't get people who are now up in arms about this. You knew what happened. The video shows what had been put out. Seeing it shouldn't change anything. Can you imagine if a video of AP of him beating his kid came out?
I'd agree gender doesnt, but overall size\strength does. Obviously there are some women who could go toe to toe with a player like mixon. This wasnt one of them.
There are no women that could go toe to toe with Mixon.
Tyreek Hill is and everyone has seemingly swept him punching his pregnant girlfriend and assault conviction under the rug.Hope everyone passes on him in the NFL. Is Ray Rice playing in the NFL now???? Sounds like OU was trying to throw a blanket on this, but now sounds like old' Bobby boy may be in a little bit of trouble.

This incident, like many others related to football players and acts of violence, is no surprise. You are raising and training people to be violently physical and expect them to be able to control it all of the time. I know that these are isolated incidents and the majority of football players can control this, but it would be interesting to see how the percentage of NFL or college football players involved in incidents of violence compares with the rest of society. I would assume that it is higher among players.
This will be largely forgotten and OU football fans don't care. For ****'s sake, a Chiefs player killed himself at the practice facility and nobody remembers or cares about it. To be honest, I am way more worried about the Chiefs getting home field for the playoffs than I am about any off field news that you could present me about DUI's or domestic abuse.
No but there was a conviction, which in this day and age is not always a sure thing. http://www.si.com/college-football/...ball-domestic-violence-battery-plea-agreementBut is there video of that incident? I think this is going to be an interesting litmus test for the NFL. Is there a difference between hearing about something and actually seeing it play out?
Then people can stop pretending that sports teach discipline. At least we can eliminate that charade.
I think it's more accurate to say they instill work ethic than discipline. Similar but not identical concepts. Neither is tied to morality.
Agree. Not calling people racial slurs, approaching them, and hitting them in public:
EASIEST THING I'VE EVER DONE IN MY LIFE, ZERO EFFORT, ONLY REQUIRES NOT BEING A HATEFUL IDIOT
Resisting the urge to hit back when someone calls me a racial slur, approaches me, and hits me: not the easiest thing in the world to do the right thing
As much as I'd like to throw the OU AD under the bus, the girl did just as much or more wrong than Mixon. Case of a stupid person doing a stupid thing and Mixon not being a perfect individual in response to it.
