I know my 7/almost 8 yo son started to do 'the griddy' (even though it was clear he had no idea what he was doing) just by seeing other kids his age do these things as he's not really watching a ton of pro sports or playing fortnite for himself.

I shut that down pretty quickly though

First off he was not cherry picking. Northwest was running a full court press and he was the press break on the right side.
The only question I have that you brought up was "Why is he still in the game". Risking injury up 20 with a minute left was kind of head scratching.

Fairly certain this was off a miss. If not, I stand corrected. But he had been looking for this several possessions is the point. And yes, should not have been in the game.

People will call me old school, but I could have done without it. They were up big and he was cherry picking big time. He had been doing it a couple of possessions at that point looking for a run-out. The celebration afterwards perhaps a little much too. You risk getting teed up for that.

That said, the level of outrage by college fans about a high school game and taking it to such personal levels with obvious racial undercurrents is a way bigger problem.

If it were the other coach getting pissed about it after the game i would understand it. There are unwritten rules violated here (like why Waukees coach had not pulled him at that point). But a college fan base? Get out of here.

Some corrections.

1) I was wrong. This was not off a miss. I was thinking of prior possessions (one of which someone picked the long pass).

2). This was a blow out. They were up 19 with barely more than a minute left at this point.

Regardless, he’s been hunting this and was probably unnecessary. Other coach is also kind of asking for it by pressing with game out of hand.
