WTF?? It's a garden. Why is that a priority, and what is it a priority over? And why? It's a garden.

Yeah, that seemed like a silly statement, not because RG are sacrosanct but because I can't see why development of the SEZ would encroach on the Gardens anyway. The SEZ project would have to be HUGE to **** with RG.

“I think in the next five to 10 years, if projections continue,” said Warren Madden, Iowa State vice president for business and finance.

How did this writer get under five years from this quote?

Maybe if we do what Andy Dufrense did and email pollard every week about the SEZ until he does it this will speed up plans for the SEZ! :jimlad:

I think it is because that area, when redone, should be more of the draw to the stadium. So, there will be a higher parking/traffic demand to be placed down by the sunny, new, south gateway.

Ya Im not getting any news worthy information from this article. We all knew the SEZ has been in the future plans.

I sort of agree. I think the newsworthiness of it is with the new interviews, comments, and actually addressing the timeline more openly. It reads very optimistic, where JP has been a little "arms-length" about it in the past. I'm sensing that these releases are being choreographed to precision so that fans keep showing up this year, even if we have our troubles, and look forward to the future. It is being done in a way to rise our stock steadily and very conservatively so that we don't announce a new renovation and fall flat on our face. I'm thinking this gets announced sometime early next year, and gets done between the 2014-15 season, and the 2015-16 season. I have no inside information, that is just my gut feeling from reading all the interviews and analyzing the demand and how the rhetoric has changed.

Because Iowa State is an institution that involves more than just the football program?

Yes, and some of us Ames residents actually like having things like Reiman Gardens. I think it makes that entire area look pretty cool. A SEZ will just be the icing on the cake.

ISU already offers a ton of parking. Most schools make you fend for yourself. Why not put more into a better shuttle system from Box store parking lots?

It's too bad that the timing is still off in the distant future. Interest rates have already jumped 1-2% in the last 2 months and that is for residential mortgages / high quality debt. I can only imagine that the jump in rates already adds hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt service each year. Unless that is they plan on paying mostly cash.

How about this: we all buy lottery tickets, hope one of us wins big, and we give money for the SEZ! Then whoever won the ticket can have the SEZ named after them, and we all get donor tickets!

Already my plan.

I'd kinda hope I can swing a luxury box out of the deal, though...
