Anthony Lee would be a very good pick-up. He has good potential- his game is similar to an underclassman Ejim, if Ejim had been three inches taller. More importantly, he wants to play forward like Ejim (as he describes in his interview). Hoiberg, and the way ISU uses posts, would do wonders for his game.
Although he has been forced to play the conventional forward/center role, he is not a banger at 6'9" and 230. He is a good/great athlete for his height. If he works as hard to put on muscle and work on his perimeter skills, he could be the match-up problem Hoiberg likes.
Despite being a whipping boy for the local Temple fans this year, he has had some very good games against Big 12 level teams. He is a good kid.

Why not get both? You think KU "needed" Tarik Black when they already had Ellis, Embiid and Traylor? Another quality big would definitely help
True he has gotten limited minutes, but he has always been very valuable and filled his role while in there. Remember BYU, he was also clutch in the Big 12 tournament. We don't need a lot of scoring out of him. A few put backs is fine. His role is to give our stars rest, rebound, and disrupt the other teams big guy.

Yeah, I think Fred likes having a player or two sitting for a year. Takes the pressure off of finding playing time for everybody, provides good competition in practice, and often helps balance out the classes.
I like Edozie just fine, but we are losing 35 ppg at the end of the year. We need to find more scoring and if Lee is a good personality fit, I think Fred will find a way to make great use of his ability. There will still be room for Edozie if he improves even a little bit.
This, you recruit talent and it's the players job to earn a spot in rotation. The more quality players on the court equals wins. The more quality players in practice prepares them for better play. Just ask Monte.
Take a look at McKay. He never made a three in Juco and before every game in Hilton they had him shooting 3s with Nader and Bubu. Granted he wasn't sensational in the drills but he now has the capability to pick, pop, catch and shoot a 3 in the offense that we run. Lee won't be here for a season to work on it but I wouldn't be surprised if Fred advised him to work on it in the offseason.
It is harder to find a solid 4-5 than a solid 2-3. You take Lee in a heartbeat.

Exactly. And he mentions us by name in the video, as a team he thinks can do well in the tournamen. Said he has watched Iowa St games this year, and likes our style.
Kind of skirted the question re: playing for Iowa. I like that he mentioned Iowa State first when asked about which team is likely to advance, definitely has watched us play and should be familiar with how our bigs can shoot and play away from the basket, areas in which he wants to improve.

Darren Wolfson from Minnesota tweeted that Lee wants to stay close to home in the Midwest and think he chooses ISU as of now.
I'd like both, it's just hard to tell what Fred already has up his sleeve. Not to mention that if there is any truth to Fred's comment that Kourtlin Jackson might contribute he could fill one of the final two scholarship spots. I'd take an athletic forward in addition to a shooting guard. It will be interesting to see how things play out.
