Now, given that you are an Iowa fan, I'm not surprised by this, but it is 2011, not 2010. I know you are having a forgettable year, but that is taking it too far.

Here's this years game: Texas Longhorns vs. UCLA Bruins - Box Score - September 17, 2011 - ESPN

hawkeyescott's post summarized in video. Calendar reading must not be offered until sophmore year at Iowa. The fail is strong with this one.

Even funnier, he thought only 55000 showed up to a Texas home game.

ISU has played poorly most of the year (penalties, fumbles, INT, missed FGs) but somehow manages to make enough plays to win. The competition up to this point has been less than stellar.

IF we put a solid NO turnover game vs Texas.... we can win. Last year we dominated the turnover battle (4-1)and got an onside kick and they missed a chip shot field goal. They also settled for 2 field goals very close to the goal line. Gilbert still threw for 34/57 and 344 yards. ISU went 3 and out something like 7 times. Thats a lot of time without the ball in Texas hands. They did move the ball quite well against us most of the game.

The good news is that we have closed the gap to the point that picking ISU vs Texas is a worthwhile thing to do.

wtf is wrong with u people? did u even watch our guys man handle these bastards last year...this isnt even close, clones win by 2-3 tds...
1. if y came to isu this is the game u came for
2. we have a better o line, a better qb, better secondary, better linebackers... only place they have on us is dline and kicker
3. we have better coaches
4. we are at home
5. freshmen qb on the road for first time, ucla doest count
6. they alrwady worried about ou

im telling u guys u are being blinded by the name on the front of the jersey, there is zero reason to think we shouldnt stomp these bastards, they arent any better jyst because they got a texas jersey on..if we hold onto the ball this isnt close

I like this guy.

I hope his heart is dashed this weekend. Texas will be tough. We handeled them last year (cough- winning by a touchdown), but this may very well not be the same Texas team as last. At the same time it may be. Texas really hasn't done anything to prove themselves yet, actually this game is Texas' first test if they are top 25 caliber or not. So many unknowns on both teams, Saturday will answer a lot of questions.

If ISU plays clean football (wins the turnover and penalty battle), I think it is an ISU victory. IF we play like we did against UConn and UNI it might be a tough night as ISU will keep it close, but I don't think Jantz will be able to engineer another great comeback.

Hey... don't mess with my tradition of not getting my hopes up... if I think that we will win the game... or say it... we will get killed. I stand by my 56-3 statement. So far, I'm 3 for 3 this year picking ISU to lose.

I had a dream last night that we kicked Texas' butt by three TDs. It felt very real, so I have to go with it. But not by three TDs. 28-24 ISU

I think we lose a close one to Texas.
Then lose our next 4 (@BU, @mizzou, A&M, @TT)

Then to twist the knife.....so we get to lose all the media attention..
I then predict Iowa will beat Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue and Mich State. (wow)
Will go through their season only playing 1-2 teams in the top 25. And Beat some of the worst teams in Division 1. Then go to a great bowl and beat a Middle of the pack SEC team.

There are two important things ISU has to do to win this game.
1) slow down the Texas Rushing attack
2) they can't beat themselves, i.e. turnovers and penalties

They do those things and ISU wins 24-20.

Wally isn't a big blizter...but I think we may have to a little more than usual this game. We need to stick that Texas running game in the mud. If we do that and get pressure on McCoy, he will probably make some mistakes.

Wally will have some new things to throw at them off the bye week, so will Herman. Texas will as well, I just think we are much better coached and I will put Wally up agains their 30 something ex Boise coordinator anytime, he isn't going to come up with anything Wally hasn't seen.

ISU +9 seems to good to be true.

Underdogs in two games already. Victories in both...

Nine points does seem extremely high. If we start to see some downward movement on that line tomorrow and Friday I'm going to feel really good about our chances.

Texas strikes me as a fringe top 25 team. Better than the teams we've beat so far, which means that the early turnovers and penalties have gotta go, but absolutely beatable. I like ISU as long as it doesn't come down to a FG attempt. ISU 27 Texas 23.

Cyclones FTW! I still think Texas is overlooking us, and this win will show everyone else that this program means business.
