The match-up to me is similar to our Orlando, FL tournament match-up against Gonzaga.... Definitely large size and style differences, we played well in that game, and imo probably should have won, I don't see any reason that we can't take this one home too. I do believe with the effort we have put on defense and rebounding the post-season, I really think we can play with about anyone, last night though it heated up as the game went on, we were not as lights out shooting as well which I think bodes well for this tournament run. I also thought the first half of the game we had Nevada winded, and we came in the 2nd half running the offense in prevent, which seemed like a counter direction as we allowed them to get back into the game and get their legs under them, I believe we should look to run at all cost with Purdue, take their size out of the game, use it against them.....
You must not have watched the same game as I did. We were CLEARLY outmatched underneath and weren't hitting anything. Do you remember how Burton literally put the team on his back and pretty much brought the team back to within reason the 2nd half? As a team, they HAVE to play better against Purdue. There was too much ISO ball against Gonzaga.
But yes, after reading their board it seems as if they struggle with quick and athletic guard oriented teams. Keep the pace up, be reasonable on the boards, and knock down some 3's and hopefully we have it!
