I love Arnaud's ability to pick up the tough-yards on the ground. His throws are errant more often than not, but Tiller is still far behind where Arnaud is in overall grasping of the offense. Tiller's arm may be better but hasn't shown better accuracy by comparison, and he's faster but is an easy tackle for defenders. I would like to see Capello play and compare that to all the great things we are hearing about him. He may be next in line after Arnaud.

With that said, I'm excited for Arnaud to put in a good off-season and come back a more complete QB for our system next year. I think he's our starter next year.

Arnaud has the definite edge going into spring and rightfully so. I fully expect Tiller to be given a fair chance to win the job, though. Arnaud hasn't earned the right to be given special treatment or the benefit of the doubt. You simply can't have 4 turnovers against a team like Minnesota. Inexcusable. Way too many turnovers for him considering he missed two full games and half the Baylor game.

Clean up some of the mistakes and we have a real productive QB. The fumbles don't bother me as much as the interceptions. As much as he runs, fumbles are bound to happen.

Going through and reading this thread I am struck buy a few types of answers: those supporting AA and giving statistics to back it up; those supporting AA because it's his 3rd system; and those who apparently are smarter than all of us combined and just off of gut instinct and turnover numbers can tell us that a QB who lead a team to a bowl win after picked to finish dead last in the conference and only winning two games the last 2 years combined can NOT helps us "make a leap" to the upper echelon of the Big XII. Please elaborate and school us who are not as fortunate to be born with such a natural football intelligence- what is it about AA that will prevent that? As far as I remember he was responsible for both TDs in the bowl game, including those HUGE 3rd down conversions. If anything he needs to reach that level of consistency that makes great QBs great, and has shown those flashes but to say it is impossible for him to reach that level requires a level of insight and intelligence of Herman's system and the team that no one posting on here has.

AA is awesome, just needs to throw less INTs. He can scramble, so next year i believe AA will scramble instead of making bad throws more.

Its not even close, AA. He has an injury now. Can't wait to see him next year

For those complaining about AA and thinking we cannot win with a QB like him, compare his numbers with Terrelle Pryor at Ohio State. Prior to their bowl games AA had 1799 yards passing (10 games), 57.4% completion percentage, 119.5 rating, 485 yards rushing (44.1 per game), 11 interceptions, 3 fumbles lost, 7 rushing TD's and 13 passing TD's. Pryor had 1828 yards passing (12 games), 55.8% compl. pct., 128.0 rating, 707 yards rushing (58.9/game), 10 interceptions, 3 fumbles lost, 7 TD's rushing, 16 TD's passing. Pryor is probably a better QB than AA, and is definitely much quicker. Also the supporting cast at Ohio State is much better.

I do believe that AA and Tiller are both the type of QB our coaching staff wants. CPR and Herman have both stated that it is important to have a strong running game to win, and after watching the bowl games I would agree. If you want to beat a team with a high octane offense you have a better chance if you keep their offense off the field. AA will improve next year, especially if we see improvements in our Wide Recievers.

The primary difference between AA and Pryor's performance this season being Pryor has a defense that almost always overcomes his mistakes. We do not have that luxury albeit a few games where the defense came through, therefore we need smarter play from the QB position. At this point, we have to take the good with the bad and stick it out.

Am I the only one who noticed that outside of his two INTs, that AA's throws were MUCH more accurate against Minnesota than they were the rest of the year? Very few one hoppers (which seemed to dominate early in the season), or passes that just didn't have a prayer. Don't forget his running ability. Do you think A-Rob would have 1,000 yards this year with Capello back there? No way, Jose. The read option needs a QB that can run the ball, and AA is a great rusher out of the QB position. He might not be a home run threat, but he almost always gets the yards he needs to get. Remember that 3rd and 15 he picked up with his legs last week? I do.

AA's only real liability (and it's a big one right now) is that he forces the issue when the play isn't there sometimes. That can be coached out. He didn't do it last year, and I don't think he'll do it next year. I remember a guy who played QB at ISU who had more INTs than TDs, and he's a god around these parts. He never won any more games in one season than Arnaud did either. You guys might remember him too. I think his name was "Seneca Wallace", or something like that.

He's finally healthy. He played like crap and still went 17-of-23. Granted, that was a horrible 17-of-23 with two fumbles, but he's finally at 100%. He's our QB.

Was he credited for the fumble on the botched hand-off off the low snap? It looked to me that it was as much on Robinson and Stephens as it was on Arnaud. And going 17-23 and playing like crap is what I would call a luxury...

This staff has 8 mos to coach him not to force the issue, put less pressure on himself. He will improve a lot next yr just because the system will be second nature by then. Maybe Mike Leach could be hired in an advisary role!

+1 and I want to add that I saw several rusty QB's throw multiple picks in bowl games this year. I think 1 guy had thrown like 7 picks all year and he threw 4-5 in the bowl game. The Okie St game had 11-12 turnovers in that game. I think the people freaking out have nothing else to worry about. AA is going to be a very good QB next year and lead us to a bigger and better bowl game.

Well, I for one am going to be behind Arnaud again next year. He is our best option and has proven to be a winner. However, he, probably moreso than any other player on our team needs to improve by next season.

That would make sense. CPR stated that they spent a lot of time on AA's foot work and mechanics with the extra practices.

I would have to agree with AA, and I do not give in to the three coaches BS. He nees to becaome a smarter QB and he will shine. I would like him hit the workouts harder than years past.
He will walk into the season #1, but he can be overtaken if he does not prepare more properly.

AA needs to learn to not go for the Big Play when it ain't there. Both his picks were a result of that. That trait alone is the reason we're having these threads. If he can change that aspect of his game, it changes a lot.

I think the second one was a pre snap or right at the snap read. He threw that ball pretty quickly and I believe the corner wass coming. My guess if he saw somethin incorrect and made the wrong read. I know, it's still a pick. The fumbles bother me. The one on the handoff can always happen so I let that one go a little because it come with the territory of running the read play. The other one was an awkward hit. It's not like he is winging the ball around in the air. He does need to be more secure with the ball though.

I cringed when I saw this thread title. You could imagine my disapointment when I saw when it was created. The guy just won a bowl game. Give him a break. Everyone wants to jump on his stats from last year. I know, they are not as good. He was hurt for a significant portion of the season. Also, from what I have seen in play calling and recruiting, herman likes to get guys the ball in space. We have exactly no healthy recievers that are that type of receiver. Everyone seems to be a possession guy to me. I look for big things from Arnaud next year. I see there being no question of who starts. There will be a competition but unless Barnett is something real special, Arnaud is the guy. He made a bunch of good throws in the game. Yes, he made some bad decisions, but let's not just look at those. I will say again, look at Rices production from year 1 of Herman to year 2 with I believe the same QB.

It should be pointed out that 2008 was Arnaud's second year in that system, and that that system wasn't drastically different from the first system he learned as a freshman.
