Not working today has given me time to ponder and answer the great questions of the day.

1. What to scan for TBT? Answer: Pictures of my mother on the Strawberry Point, Iowa basketball team from way back in the day.

2. Eat my last piece of apple pie with lunch or save it for this evenings basketball game? Answer: Eat an apple now and save pie for hoops this evening.

3. Are my new L.L. Bean gumshoe boots the winter equivalent of boat shoes? Am I now a New Englandish cool guy? Answer: Yes, they are and I think I am cool now but it might help if BU confirmed this.

4. Is it time to invoke the first of one of my very few Christmas traditions? Answer: Yes, I pulled out my glass Christmas coffee cup this morning.

I need to think about my next project since my current one is approaching it's completion. I want to make something pretty to hang in mah house.

I think one of the first two would be nice for a bathroom. There's an autumn one Dh likes but I told him I don't feel very autumn-y right now, so that will be future. I know the third one is huge. Like, really huge. So I'm a bit hesitant about starting that one. I think the first two are pretty large though too.

Are those grospoint or cross stitch?

Must be a really tight pattern, unless those are just examples of the print you are looking at?

it's pretty small stitching, yeah. I've seen a partially done one of the irises and it looks just like the picture. I also suspect it's like 5 ft by 4 ft.

I did a couple of grospoints in college, I'm bad on dimensions, but they're about the size of the FB & MBB posters from ISU. Each took about four months.

Not a very good picture, sorry...

So wth is a gros point? I mean, I know what cross stitching is, but never heard of this grospoint.

Have you heard of petit point? Gros point is large scale petit point. Instead of having the stitches cross over each other, petit point, quick point & gros point are all angled single stltch, so on close inspection, a row would look like ///// instead of XXXXX.

The stitch comes up one hole, goes diagonal to the next hole. It's done on a stiffer canvas than the aida cloth and other fabrics that cross stitch uses. The design is actually painted onto the canvas, rather than diagrammed on paper (for counted cross stitch). The large scale ones that CG is doing may be painted canvas also.
