So wth is a gros point? I mean, I know what cross stitching is, but never heard of this grospoint.

You don't know what Grosse Pointe is?!?

Have you heard of petit point? Gros point is large scale petit point. Instead of having the stitches cross over each other, petit point, quick point & gros point are all angled single stltch, so on close inspection, a row would look like ///// instead of XXXXX.

The stitch comes up one hole, goes diagonal to the next hole. It's done on a stiffer canvas than the aida cloth and other fabrics that cross stitch uses. The design is actually painted onto the canvas, rather than diagrammed on paper (for counted cross stitch). The large scale ones that CG is doing may be painted canvas also.

so it's like needlepoint on a grid instead of free-hand? I know the irises one starts on blank Aida, I suspect the others do as well. They are just very intense and no white space left. I'll probably never finish them, haha. But that's the nice thing about needlework. Not like it'll expire on me.

ok, I'm wrong. I did something that was only the //// stitches one time but that's not quite what you are talking about. Mine was just like on fabric - maybe it was more like embroidery. But it was a big pattern - no grid underneath really, just an outline. Kind of like a paint by number, you know? You just filled in the section with //// until it looked good.

Well, it IS still kind of like paint by number. I've sometimes heard it called "half-cross-stitch". I'll take a picture of a half-finished canvas for you when I get home, so you can see the canvas and the stitching.

some old lady damn near ran into me on the way home. I went past Midwest passive-aggressiveness, Pants. I honked at her. We both turned left from a two lane onto a four lane. I picked the left lane and she picked the right. She seemed to be going slow and so I watched her. She flipped her turn signal on and immediately came over into my lane. Didn't even look. I slam on the brakes and honk at her. Then she went 35 in a 45 (in the left lane) so I re-pass her on the other side along with others. She was smart and didn't look at me as I drove by.

But did you smash her the bird?

She didn't look at me as I went by. I said bad words inside my car. I'm not kidding, she damn near hit me. And if the car behind me had been following normally (they were lagging), they probably would have rear-ended me cause I stopped so fast.

semi-serious post before we go back to happy times.

I just want to say that I appreciate how when Rabbuk asked Bu about a different chapter of his fraternity, Bu's response was to condemn what was suspected and say how wrong it was. It's a shame that not everyone can acknowledge the flaws in their organizations and renounce them similarly.

I feel like you're about to go somewhere with this....
