Worst part about both of us getting iPhone's is summed up in this text from my wife. "You know I can see when you read things right?"

Just got back from 21 with 1 big hill. Was able to push it up a couple of small hills afterwards so maybe I won't die if I keep trying.

CG did you go through the lakes country in Northern England? Rick Steves on IPTV is there it looks beautiful.

Velo do you have one of those Brooks saddles is there much maintenance to one? I would guess oil it once a yr?

watched that last night as well (and before we went). Due to timing and such, we had to cut actually staying in that area but we did drive through it. Very pretty and would love to go back. If I'm completely honest, we probably should have kept our time there and skipped York, but York broke things up nicely. Lake District was a less extreme version of the Highlands, it seemed. We stopped for about an hour in Keswick, just as cute of a town (and bustling!) as it appeared on the show. Plus it was like 80F and sunny when we went through so people were out all over the place.

Happy belated birthdays to Velo and Chaser.

I just had a 10 day stay-cation where the most work I did was mowing the lawn and doing some dishes and laundry. We basically got up, ate, slept and did stuff whenever we wanted. I was initially pretty bummed about not going out of town, but I really ended up enjoying the relaxing vibe.

Yeah. It really isn't that big of deal just more of a well damn moment.
PapaLew doesn't want a Facebook account, but my FB is on our tablet, which he usually has for his Clash of Clans game. He reads my FB all the time. No problem with that, except that FB has a tendancy to change the news feed each time you open it, so I've had people ask why I didn't respond to their post. Well, mostly because it disappeared downfeed...

A couple of times he has actually responded to something. Most of the time he notes that it is him, using my account. :D

Hey KC, I did that drawing the states thing in about 5 minutes (I didn't start over on any of them) and here's what I got. I didn't spend a lot of time on it, but I was pretty horrible trying to free hand a few of them.

Funny story from yesterday morning. While the wife and I were packing, my older son comes running into the room yelling: "Baby GTO is holding a wasp!" I ran over to knock it out of his hand and noticed that it was still alive and proceeded to kill it. Baby was upset that I took it from him. I asked my older son why he did not take that out of his hand. His response: "Well, I saw it moving so I did not want to touch it. Baby GTO was not afraid so I just let him hold it." o_O

You did better than me! Size is an issue when you don't have perspective - which is why my Texas was so short, and your Wisconsin is bigger than your Michigan!

I actually got to spend a proper amount of time at the WWI museum here in KC during my week off. If you have any interest in it at all, it's a must-see. They have done an outstanding job with that place.

So you watched that hill climb yesterday in the de Tour for inspiration? Furk...10K of 10% grade with some 14% thrown in.

I did so horrible that I redid it just to see how much I could improve. The thing was awfully unforgiving on Hawai'i. I had the big island, Maui, Molokai, Kaho'olawe, Oahu and Kauai all in the right spots and pretty accurate shapes for Maui, Molokai and the big island as well as the right number of islands and it still gave me an F.

I had a professor for Latin American history who was drawing a map of the western hemisphere on the chalk board as we came into class on the first day. It was damned accurate with the national capitals all in their places. He told us that we were looking at our midterm. I think that helped everyone in the class with geography knowing that we would have to turn a blank sheet of paper into a decent map of half of the planet. It was a useful thing to learn. I can't draw one today but even 30 years down the road I know where all the Central and South American countries are and still remember most of the capitals.

@VeloClone Forgot to mention when biking the other day over between Hopkins and Mpls we came up on a cop car with flashing lights on the path. Rode by and chatted with a group of road bikers who had been riding as a group and all got tagged (like a dozen of them) for running a stop sign on the bike path. Since this was St. Louis Park it likely had nothing to do with actual safety. They are one of the Twin Cities ticket traps leaders. Used to live in that burb and the cops hated everyone that hung out at the Excelsior Blvd establishments and hated everyone that lived in apartments. Still don't like that burb.

Interesting since riding that stretch of path is odd as every intersection seems to be different as to how it is signed. And, of course, had to stop less than a mile later for a bunch of motorcycles who all zipped right through their stop sign.

There was a good section dedicated to the flying aces on each side, including their individual conquests. There was a note about them essentially being on equal footing with celebrities. I wish I could remember the exact wording, but it hinted at them being more show and fluff than substance. I found it sorta amusing.

I had the right shape for most of the states although I was kind of fuzzy on Hawaii & Alaska. My problem was that I was apperently dyslexic when drawing some of them. For example, NH & VT were upside down, and the pointy end of NY was on the eastern ind of the state while the tall part was on the west. I'm also not very good at drawing with a mouse!

And I have no idea why Maine looks like a giant shark's tooth...

I always remember Vermont looks like a V because it begins with a 'V'.
