Re: Rashad Vaughn

What would cause a server meltdown the fastest? ISU getting commits from Vaughn, Jay. Johnson, Ellenson, and Coffey all in the same day, or ISU upsetting a team to make the Final Four?

Well if we get some of the players you mention, I doubt that it'd take much of an 'upset' for us to make it to the Final Four..

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I just want another Marcus Fizer on our team. Seems like college basketball was at its peak back then....or maybe I just think it's that way because ISU was so dominant.

I actually want another Tinsley. He made everyone around him better. And man he was fun to watch.

Yeah, Tinsley was the man. Favorite announcer call of all time, I believe during the thumping of UCLA in 2000(?) NCAA tournament: 'One on five, Tinsley has the advantage.' Followed by a for no good reason circling the ball around his back and layup.

If not already mentioned, Mudiay picks SMU. As LLCoolJ pointed out, I see it as a positive when top guys spurn Kentucky. The fallacy of 'all 5 stars benefit most from going to Kentucky' nonsense will die sometime, rather sooner than later.

I know Texas wasn't a finalist for Mudiay, but Rick Barnes has gotta be on his way out even further when top talent stays in state and not only doesn't go to $Baylor$, but to SMU. Larry Brown or not!

I think Fizer complemented Tinsley rather than Tinsley complenting Fizer's talents. As evidence, I give you 2001. No Fizer. Conference Champs. I am not sure Fizer gets it done in 2000 without Tinsley. Tinsley was a rare, rare talent.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

So did anyone else watch yesterdays game? It seemed like Vaughn was about the 5th option always on the court. I just can't see how Vaughn would want to go anywhere but isu if he wants to be "the guy" and be a one and done. You can tell when he gets hot he's going to be about impossible to stop

Re: Rashad Vaughn

With Mudiay committing to SMU you will see Kansas, and especially Baylor pick up their recruitment on Tyus Jones. Obviously this doesn't have a big effect on Iowa State, however it can all trickle down as the other teams put more pressure on Jones to pull him away from the state of Minnesota.

Anyway... Back to everyone blabbing about their opinion on Vaughn, when and where he will commit.

In a round about sort of way, it also makes the chances that Iowa lands Tyler Ulis go down. Kentucky was big on Mudiay, and with him to SMU... that puts Ulis as their #1 target at PG now.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Iowa is the long shot for Ulis. Michigan State had been the favorite until the offer from Kentucky came down and that has many thinking that Kentucky now has the upper hand. Anytime you trim your list and leave a school on that hasn't even offered you yet, you really want to go there, and that is just what Ulis did.

Kentucky now has Jones and Ulis as their 2 PG options in the 2014 class. You know Calipari would love to take both of them... I can probably go out on a limb and say Iowa's shot for grabbing Ulis is probably <5%.

Isn't that kid like 5' 8" and 150 pounds?

Not that you can't be good but that's tiny.

He's tiny but really damn good.
What's up Cydcar wondering when I would see you on here. Mudiaye to SMU is a huge upset.... Looks like the KY train is beginning to slow down a little on the recruiting trail. Hoping you guys get Rashad Vaughn. I think I can safely say UNC is off the list especially with the signing of Theo Pinson. The real kicker is I think that he still would have picked unc if his parents were to jump on board. Now he says that UNC is still an option but he won't be taking any official visits to chapel hill. His parents won't be coming to chapel hill. So that is why I say UNC is out. We are window dressing. I do think you guys have as good a shot as anyone besides KU at getting him.
