East coast kids have grown up with UCONN being an elite program.

True and conference uncertainty is not nearly as big of a concern for basketball. UCONN will always be in a better than average b-ball conference.

These are the points I was trying to make in my earlier post

Why I agree with their tradition most of that was built with Calhoun leading the team and the conference won’t hurt their basketball recruiting. It is a new era at UCONN with a lot of uncertainty. With out Calhoun we cant really know if Recruits will hold the huskies in the same regard. Look at Indiana after night left or UCLA after Wooden... Those programs are the definition of historical powers and their teams took massive dips in records and recruiting soon after they left. I believe Ollie is only on a one year "show us" contract, thus the AD obviously is keeping his options open. Not exactly what a recruit wants to hear if he is commiting for 4 years. While I do think Ollie is a good coach and may keep the ship afloat, it isn't a guarantee. If they miss the tourney, this year and the next recruits won't care about the UCONN tradition and sign elsewhere.

They aren't eligible for the tourney this year.

Quick mention of ISU suggests we (along with Wisconsin) have made AMA a priority. I also believe we were one of the first high majors to offer.

I may be reading into this too much, but the last few sentences makes me a bit concerned.

"He will not go into a hornets’ nest where guys are coming and going. I also think he will want to go to a school that’s stable in its league. Consistency of characters will be important to him, as well as loyalty. He’s a very thoughtful kid."

With as many transfers as Freddie takes in, that may keep AMA away. I guess we'll find out.

But we would definitely be more consistent than the top schools recruiting him, who would be having guys leaving for the NBA after one or two years

Also, I think that Hoiberg will avoid transfers or juco as much as possible now, because we shouldn't need a quick fix at any position unless someone transfers out

I think this is more or less eluding to Conference realignment and coaches coming and going. Not to mention players transfering out. This hit me more as UConn than us.

I think we all act like the first 5 transfers are the norm. They aren't. This year we have 2. Next year 1. This isn't a trend. We have many more high school kids.

One transfer and 3 JUCO's with no more than 2 years of eligibility left. JUCO's are transfers that can play immediately.

As if ISU is the only team that takes transfers. It's the norm in this league now, get used to it. Anyone seen Mizzou's roster?

Transfers happen. I think it's better to be a destination for transfers than a school that loses a lot of players.

It sounds to me that he will be looking for a coach with good character and judgement, which will certainly help Fred's case more than many in college b-ball

He's talking about it in a "trouble" sense, not a transfer in sense. Othewise one and dones would fit the same category. Since when is taking in transfers classify as a "hornets nest"? He is clearly talking about a situation like UConn where the coach leaves, post season sanctions, and half the players transfer out.

He and Terrell just visited UConn for a game, and apparently had good things to say, some indication they may be a team considered to the end.

Nothing's wrong with transfers. Oriahki and Lockett would have been good players to have this year. DFS for next year would have been awesome.
