True and conference uncertainty is not nearly as big of a concern for basketball. UCONN will always be in a better than average b-ball conference.
Why I agree with their tradition most of that was built with Calhoun leading the team and the conference won’t hurt their basketball recruiting. It is a new era at UCONN with a lot of uncertainty. With out Calhoun we cant really know if Recruits will hold the huskies in the same regard. Look at Indiana after night left or UCLA after Wooden... Those programs are the definition of historical powers and their teams took massive dips in records and recruiting soon after they left. I believe Ollie is only on a one year "show us" contract, thus the AD obviously is keeping his options open. Not exactly what a recruit wants to hear if he is commiting for 4 years. While I do think Ollie is a good coach and may keep the ship afloat, it isn't a guarantee. If they miss the tourney, this year and the next recruits won't care about the UCONN tradition and sign elsewhere.

Quick mention of ISU suggests we (along with Wisconsin) have made AMA a priority. I also believe we were one of the first high majors to offer.
I may be reading into this too much, but the last few sentences makes me a bit concerned.
"He will not go into a hornets’ nest where guys are coming and going. I also think he will want to go to a school that’s stable in its league. Consistency of characters will be important to him, as well as loyalty. He’s a very thoughtful kid."
With as many transfers as Freddie takes in, that may keep AMA away. I guess we'll find out.
I think this is more or less eluding to Conference realignment and coaches coming and going. Not to mention players transfering out. This hit me more as UConn than us.I may be reading into this too much, but the last few sentences makes me a bit concerned.

I think we all act like the first 5 transfers are the norm. They aren't. This year we have 2. Next year 1. This isn't a trend. We have many more high school kids.
Nothing's wrong with transfers. Oriahki and Lockett would have been good players to have this year. DFS for next year would have been awesome.
