as someone on CR speculated, he is probably waiting to see what happens at KU before he makes a decision. So if one of the KU players goes to the combine and is drafted, they would have a spot for him. So this thing may drag out another 3 weeks if that is the case.

Yes, he would have. He committed more than a YEAR before his father was offered a job. His parents were going to move to wherever he chose to play since they had zero chance of ever seeing him in person while still living in Alaska.

Mario Chalmers went to Kansas because Aaron Miles was going to be graduating so he was pretty much guaranteed to start his freshman year. He committed May 22, 2004 and Mr. Chalmers didnt get hired until June of 2005 when he mentioned to Self that he and his wife were going to be relocating to Lawrence and he was going to look into if there were any opening as a high school coach. And he got hired as Director of Basketball Operation, which is a glorified gopher position. DBO makes sure that the road hotel has the right video equipment, coordinates meals and makes sure they have diet cokes in Self's room.

A top 10 recruit doesnt go to a school because his dad will get to be a low paid errand boy. KU just landed the Lawson boys from Memphis because their dad was demoted to a low paid errand boy position.

Now Danny Manning, thats different. He doesnt end up at KU if Larry Brown doesnt have a long history with his Dad and hire him to be an assistant.
Danny Manning's dad had been a truck driver for 4 years prior to being hired as an assistant coach at KU. Larry Brown had to re-solicit the hire because Ed Manning didn't have enough education to qualify for the position the way the job was originally posted. Even North Carolina didn't try pulling that sh*t.

That seems like a wild guess to me, and one that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

You mean Svi? I don't see that influencing him. They had enough spots open for him to commit (before Moore even transfered). Plus KU is active in pursuing other big men. If KU is still in the picture I think it's them waiting on Juiston to decide, not Juiston waiting on KU

It was allowed by the rules.

FYI it sounds like Svi will come back to KU if he doesn't get draft combine invite. But my guess is that he does. The combine isn't until the middle of May so they aren't going to know whether he is coming back for a few weeks.

His defense is absolutely terrible. Everyone's offensive strategy this year was get it to whoever is being guarded by Svi.

A lot of new rules have had to be created because teams like KU in BB and Nebraska in FB were so creative in skirting the letter of the rule while totally ignoring the spirit and intent of the existing rules. See Nebraska's practice of putting skill position players on track scholarships to avoid the scholarship limits years ago.

You can still hire kids dads for coaching spots.

You can, but they have restricted hiring them to other AD positions including non coaching basketball staff positions. I assume they think that at least the team will have to give up a true coaching position if a team is hiring a relative strictly on the player's ability and not at all on coaching ability of the relative. I think they are reluctant to restrict the ability of a player to play for their parent or other relative who is a legitimate coach at the college level.

isn't KU out of ships though and that could be the reason to wait and see what Svi does?

C'mon, we all know these are not the type of handlers we're talking about in a recruiting thread. ^^^ That's called support.

Just because a kid chooses DePaul, URI, UNLV, etc. over ISU doesn't mean a kid has a handler. Some posters on this board need to relax and respect a kids college decision. Just because we love ISU doesn't mean it's the best choice for kids we are recruiting. I'll standby my statement, it is more likely family, coaches, friends are helping kids make college choices than handlers.

If we can't beat DePaul and UNLV and the kid doesn't have a handler, we have real problems

I took a high school college visit day to go to Iowa City and I had to pay my own way. I had zero intention of going to the u of i but I did have a friend of the female persuasion there who made the whole trip worth while.

That definitely sounds like a young "lady" who attends the University of Iowa.
