Also when you put on your tin foil hat you **** yourself and forget who you are for an hour whenever someone turns on the microwave.
He's definitely wrong about some things, but even if he is correct about any of it, he loses credibility.
He might have been the target or felt he was the target of the comments about the "transfer culture".
I noticed that didn't get touched on in any of the interviews today. I could see how an AD that knew he couldn't touch the HC would try to impose his will or dish out the barbs to the others in the program. Fred gets his deniability there too. Fred can say "I never had a problem with how the program was treated" and it doesn't have to be true for everyone in the program.

Googled the situation and while the main articles carry the gist, the comments are nearly unanimous in defending the program.

The whole thing about players not getting another night of hotel rooms were pure garbage. Most of the flights from Hawaii to the mainland typically goes out late afternoon - late evening. Why in the world get another night when you leave Hawaii 4-5 hours after your checkout time? Three times I've been to Hawaii in last 5 years, I checked out by noon and went to the beach until my flight went out at 6-7pm. It never crossed my mind to get another night of room because I had nowhere to go for few hours..... I am sure that's what normal people do. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT?

This feels like a big deal to all of us, because it hits so close to home. But I think it will be a very minor story on the national scene, and most people will never hear about it. Unless some new details emerge, I think this all blows over in a few days, and we'll almost forget it happened (other than maybe Hines moving on to some unknown gig). I don't think it will hurt recruiting, because it's pretty easy for Prohm to reassure the recruits that there is "nothing to see here", thanks to Hoiberg's rapid response to refute the claims. Fred has plenty on his plate right now with the Bulls' practice just starting yesterday, and dealing with Rose's injury on day 1. He could have blown this off with a simply "no comment" or some other canned statement. But he took the time to participate in the call on KXNO, which tells me he really wanted to set the record straight.
That's a good question. I think it's pretty obvious Pollard and Hoiberg didn't see eye to eye on everything but Abdelmassih seemed to be more the voice of the players than anything else. I don't think it's a coincidence this info got put out there and Monte favorites the article on Twitter.
The whole thing has been way overblown though. Fred had a good thing here and yeah he could have been put in a better situation resources wise but the fan support wouldn't have been matched
Exactly. The worst part about it is that us normal people have to lug all our bags around with us. Meanwhile, the team got to use the hotel ballroom and probably had someone in there the whole time. So they're forced to hit the beach or pool or whatever in Hawaii for 5 hours while the rest of us poor bastards are enduring another cold Iowa winter day and were supposed to feel sorry for them?? I'm betting the players didn't mind. This is just someone with an axe to grind and Hines fell for it.
I still think it's easy to address the "nickel and dime" comments when addressing recruits in the Sukup facility.
Must prove that Monte thinks Fred is a liar. Or that he's ****** at JP for not allowing him to smuggle the hotel bathrobes.

The thing that kills Hines here, is he did talk to Fred, and then words his comments very carefully in the interview on the radio when asked. Pretty clear Fred did not want any part of that article. It's a hack article, probably some truth to it, , but Hines looks really bad here I think even making a big deal out of this.

Exactly what I've been saying. He cares too much about the University to have some BS float around. If he was scared, he would have blown it off. He responded to Murph within 2 hours of the story coming out. Fred wasn't afraid and was prepared as he was ready to address this.
They both have said that isn't true. There was no facts in the story that had to do with Freds contract, just opinions.
