Tigers lose with Price. Royals win with some random called up from AAA. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Royals a mediocre 6-4 in their last 10 and dropping games to dumb teams right now. They are helping the Tigers stay in this way too much. They have had a great opportunity to bury Detroit with a bunch of games against last place teams but they are wasting it. I hope this mediocre stretch doesn't bite them in the long run.

Nothing at all wrong with a 6-4 stretch. Over a full season that equates to 97 wins. I'd take that in a heartbeat. The Angels are the only team in baseball that is on pace to win more than 97 games.

They haven't lost a series against any of these last place teams so I don't see ow that equates to a 'mediocre stretch' or wasting the opportunity.

You do realize that if the Royals simply go a "mediocre" 6-4 the rest of the way that is a record of 18-11 and a final record of 92-70... Detroit would than have to go 20-10 to equal that record and 21-9 to best it. Cleveland would have to go 24-6 to equal that mark and 25-5 to best it.

Yep, I'll take a mediocre 6-4 all the way to the World Series championship

The potential issue being that KC still has 6 to go against Detroit. It's not the record that bothers me, specifally. It's the record against terrible teams. I just wish KC was making a little better charge knowing that we need as much cushion as possible and that with a little extra charge to finish up KC has a shot at passing Baltimore for the #2 seed in the AL Playoffs.

You watched much baseball? Winning 60% of your games over your stretch is solid, not mediocre. Anything above that is excellent.

I hear ya on worrying about Detroit though, they are scary, I keep waiting for them to go on a huge run in September.

Winning 60% of your games against Texas, Minnesota and Colorado is the epitome of mediocre since those teams have lost 60% of their games this year. That's all I am saying. I would just like to see KC pick up as many wins as possible against these crummy teams so we aren't 100% dependant on winning 4+ against Detroit in our remaining games against them to stay above them. Glad KC is still hanging in there but I am not nearly as confident about them as I had been. Hopefully six striaght home games against Clevelnad and Texas will keep us on top before we head out for 6 on the road @NYY and @Detroit.

The other nice thing is that while we have 6 home games coming up, Detroit has 8 straight on the road followed by three at home versus a tough SF team before we come to town. Fingers (and toes and eyes and anything else possible) crossed.

Detroit won 50% of its games vs Minnesota just last weekend...

I am in agreement... KC HAS to beat Detroit but even if KC goes 3-3 vs the Tigers they end that stretch at the same point they are now.

Also the Royals are 11-8 vs the Twins. Detroit is 6-6...

I want Ned replaced right now and even I think that yours is an extreme position.

Nah, just tainted by pessimism and decades of disgust and disdain. Hopefully the bats can get healthy against Cleveland and the pitching staff regains that magic they've had.

Well I mean this is a given... because the last team in the middle of a playoff chase that **** canned Ned with Dale Sveum on the bench sealed the deal.
