Players want to know that coach has their back. KU players know their coach is there to get them every advantage. TF and LE did this very well. JO was one of the best. GMac somehow figured out how to get officials to call things against us. Self is just doing his job. He is a jerk, but he is just doing his job.

No, you should not support your players when they taunt. You just don't. A lot of stuff that goes on is gray area, but you cannot taunt other players, especially in the college game.

It's no coincidence that Fred keeps losing these games where outcome is decided by us playing tentative D. Wesley gets it, not many of you knuckle-draggers do, though. Self went years without a T, but gets them against the same team twice in the same season. It does smack of desperation. He knows he's over matched unless he changes the course of the game. No coach in America could have yelled for 5 minutes without the second T like he did, unless it's in this conference. It's about money and their seed in the tourney. Too many of you are too naive and call it good coaching. It's a form of cheating to use your influence that way. He's only influential because he rolls the ball out with parade all-Americans, and makes money for ESPN.

Agreed. It's hard for us to take the opponent celebrating but there is a difference between celebrating and taunting. Between the McLemore thing (pretty weak), the Elijah Johnson dunk, etc, doesn't that maybe speak to a culture that's become a bit too arrogant? They obviously have things to back up their swagger but there have been things this season that have rubbed quite a few people the wrong way.

Self seriously lost control. Looked like a ******* drunkard coming home to beat his wife and kids. KU fans at the bar were even scared.

But people loved Johnny for his candor and Eustachy for his emotion. Got it.
yes, not his emotion that people are upset about. A player taunts the opposing bench and instead of being upset with his player he dismisses it and makes a mockery in the interview...thats why his players act the way they do, he is like the Cobra con sensai in karate kid.

Until the refs have the balls to give him two Ts early on, we'll see this pattern in UK games over and over. Why not, seems to work for him.

I loved Larry but he went too far against MSU and pretty far other times. Tonight's little display by Self was pretty obnoxious. His player was taunting. You can defend what you think was a bad call but he acted like it was highway robbery and cost them the game.

I can admire passion and used to have more respect for Self, before this year. What I used to see as passion (and was envious of during the GMac years) I now see as arrogance. It benefits our whole league to have a KU that is a positive representative, it hurts our league if they start to be seen as poor losers or obnoxious winners.

Oh that's fine. We have to try to find some way to give us an advantage over KU if we can't beat them in the actual game. So, we're better people, I guess.

It's not really butthurt to think that an NCAA coach should have it together enough to not give a ******* 5 possession PLUS show of support for his player taunting the other team's bench.

Oh, and I can't believe it took me so long to even think of this but I would assume most of you would like to see Rhoads fired or are you willing to live with his "classlessness." He has gotten, far, far, more carried away than Self did tonight. It isn't even close.

Babb's not taunting anybody. Go cheer for Michigan.

Probably doesn't make them too happy. Of course it feels great as a fan but in itself probably isn't great sportsmanship.

I also think there is something to the fact that in almost every poll I've ever seen, other school's fans and coaches have respect for ISU more than most (if not all) the other conference schools. Are we perfect, no, but we seem to be pretty good sports overall.

Show me where Rhoads has supported his players taunting the other team and we actually have a discussion. Until then, you can go back to your first love.

If what McLemore did is such an awful act of taunting then whatever I guess. And Self was going on for about half that time because he thought there was an offensive foul on Niang. The hate for someone who has never actually done anything negative to ISU except beat them is funny around here. You would think Self was the one doing the taunting. Give the refs hell for not booting him if you want (I could easily make a case for booting him) but holding him accountable for what the refs are supposed to control is ridiculous. I would also go cheer for Michigan, but like ISU, they can't play defense or rebound either and got beat. Babb's showboating out there too. I don't care but to say it's anything less that that is homerism.
