If I was Babb I'd be copying Naz Longs freshman offseason. Become a deadly three point shooter and lockdown defender. If he can do that at a higher clip than Cooke I am all for it. I just have a hard time envisioning more than a 8-9 man rotation. I agree though I'm excited to see what Babb brings. He's a more physical guard and from what I've heard great defender like his brother.
Then he wouldn't be following Naz's freshmen year at all. He would be following Chris Babb's junior year.

it is not really a "town" where they are from. It is a city of 750,000 people. I hope Naz knows him, but not likely. So the only connection is more than likely just a common place and not a personal connection.

The Greater Toronto Area which includes Mississauga, is huge, something like 6 million people. But in elite sports, I am sure players at least know of each other, and probably know each other - AAU, regional and provincial championships, tournaments, etc. So, while Mississauga is a biggish city, I am sure Naz and Jankovic at least know of each other, if not know each other.

He was a junior this year, will be senior next.

Yeah, and he's only a junior this year because he must have been able to petition the NCAA to treat his sophomore year at Mizzou as a redshirt. He'll be in his 5th year next year.

I don't think he'd be bad, but I don't think he'd be the savior many of you are hoping for, either.

If you didn't like McKay on defense at the 5 this year, it'd be even worse with Jankovic. And it seemed like any time Hawaii played a bigger conference team, he'd immediately be on the bench because he picked up stupid fouls quicker than even Niang.

Don't get me wrong, I'd definitely take him. But I don't think he's the missing link some of you think he would be, either.

I think I'm leaning toward your thoughts as well. His offense would be great, but do we really need more offense. If we do get a grad transfer big, the other starters would be:
Morris
Naz
Thomas
Malou

Does anyone really think we need more offense in that lineup? A solid built guy, that can play defense in the paint, and battle for boards is what I would like to have.

Definitely has the size and stats. Would definitely be interested, but likely wouldn't be able to play next year, right?

If he can't help us out next year, I'm not sure if we'll be interested or not? Probably depends on who else we can add.

Because Hawaii has a post season NCAA ban next year I don't believe he has to sit out a year - according to Randy Pete's Rag article anyway. 33 blocks & 14 steals is amazing for a big man - want very much. Jameel's bigger brother with some meat on his bones! And he can make threes although this team won't necessarily need another arc gunner

Just need someone who can get 20 boards and completely close down the lane.

They're everywhere.

You aren't very intelligent are you.

We need immediate help for next season. If we were to add let's say Dembele, who might not be ready to play next fall, then I don't know if we look to add Jankovic if he couldn't play right away? Maybe he's so good that you would still look at him anyway, I don't know? But if he wasn't able to play right away, and Dembele wasn't either, then you are almost throwing in the towel for next season.

Now..... if he can play right away and help us out immediately, that's a different story completely. We aren't looking for someone to replace Stu Einstein.... we're looking for someone that can help us out immediately next season. All I was saying was that if Jankovic couldn't play right away, he wouldn't be as appealing, especially if the other big we land couldn't play right away either.
ever heard of 'tongue-in-cheek'? you must be a boring engineer

So Burton just needs to grow 4 or 5 inches.

F- Jankovic
F- Malou
G- Thomas
G- Long
G- Morris

C- Ernst
PF- Bowie
SF- Burton
SG- Cooke
PG- Jackson

Babb, Young, Long, Carter, Ashton on the bench as of right now.

That is a legit 10 deep team. Lost of rotation possibilities

Would love to get this guy. I could see the rotation being.
Morris, Jackson
Naz, Jackson, Babb
Thomas, Burton, Babb
Bowie, Malou, Burton
Jankovic, Malou, Young/Carter/Ernst
I don't think a few above will be in tight game rotation but it's how it seems to me.
Might be a good year to redshirt Long. I also don't see where Cooke or Ashton see the floor if Morris comes back.

Honestly, when's the last time Iowa St had ample depth? Every off-season we talk about how many guys we'll have playing decent minutes. Where will 10 guys get minutes? And then we always end up having a short bench.

Hopefully Prohm gets the roster back in order, and there will be legitimate depth, but even then I don't see him going over 8 guys.

That's why you always have to keep recruiting and trying to improve your talent. Depth is relative. We had Carter, Ashton and Ernst this year. In years before we had Edozie, Percy, SDW. The problem is that those are not B12 caliber players.

If we have a chance to land 1-2 more contributors this year, you have to do what ever you can to accomplish that.
