Couple of thoughts....

a) would/could our former head football coach (now at Auburn) help out the school (that gave him his first gig as a head coach) and lobby against A&M joining the SEC?

b) would/could our current head coach (formerly from Auburn) pull any strings at his former school and lobby against A&M too?

c) would/could our former head coach (now at Auburn) help out his former boss (Mack Brown from Texas) and lobby against A&M if asked?

No, no, and no.

Chiz has his own problems to deal with at Auburn like this NCAA investigation that is hanging over their program. Eugene is really nothing more then a dancing chicken at Auburn anyway. If he tried to lobby to the folks in charge they would just laugh in his face and tell him to go back to his room and sit in the corner.

If BYU says no... all bets are off

While I don't doubt this, why would BYU say no?

They have nothing to lose. If they joined and the Big 12 crumbled again, they already have the infrastructure to go Indy, so they're in no worse of a position.

They will make more $, and have an auto AQ bid. Right now, they have to go undefeated to get in. Not so in the Big 12.

BYU has absolutely no reason whatsoever to turn the Big 12 down, and I don't think they will.

Really believe its a pipe dream for ND

Add BYU.. they are a 1000 miles from any current Big XII team

therefor you add the best teams that are within a good distance with some history

your 2nd team is then Air Force

3rd Team is who ever New Mexico/ UNLV,Nevada Colorado State

I do not want another Texas school in this league

The Big XII is dominating Texas already EXPAND the footprint

I like your thoughts to bring in 3 but I don't think they will. BYU is a must have, next AF (allow their games to continue to be broadcast on AFN) and then NM. Having 3 schools in the mountain time zone would not be a bad thing - CU was always out on its own so there was not much feeling of belonging. AF & BYU are academically good schools and NM adds a growing population base. Split the conf east and west: East ISU, MU, KU, KSU, OU & OSU West: BU, TT, UT, BYU, NM & AF.

It would be great to get BYU and ND. They could play after Thxgiving in the Religious Pre Bowl.

I really hope the Big 12 just sends a PDF copy of the bylaws back to aTm, and says:

Here ya go, figure it out yourself. We will not waste our time outlining a process for you.

Thanks!

Sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas would seek to replace #TAMU with Notre Dame on Thanksgiving night if Aggies leave #Big12. #hookem

The Sooners will come out fine regardless so Boomer doesn't have to pump sunshine and since he's not an aTm fan or UNL fan he's not here to call us UT's b*****s or some classless bull**** you see on HN.

If A&M leaves, the Big 12 will most likely target one university as a replacement. Its wish list, in order of preference, is Notre Dame, Arkansas and Brigham Young, according to a person with first-hand knowledge of the Big 12’s discussions.
Notre Dame and Arkansas would be long shots. B.Y.U. could offer a better fit for both sides. While the Cougars recently declared independence, their addition to the Big 12 would mean that they would be able to join a Bowl Championship Series conference, much like their rival Utah did this season in going to the Pac-12.
