Guess I'm just getting grumpy in my old age, but I'm really turned off by the way many recruits publicly announce their list of potential schools and how they string the fans along. Then they have "press-conferences" where they announce their final decision to the public. Give me a break.

Is it any wonder why so many of them have to be "de-recruited" by the coaches once they arrive on campus? The way the media and fans clamor over every little thing they say and do can only give these kids an overly inflated ego.

I guess it's just as much a comment on the fans and our society in general as it is the athletes. I'm just tired of it. I really respect the star recruits who handle the process quietly and without all the drama.

Having said all that, I really hope Uthoff selects ISU. Just please spare me the theatre.

Uthoff has only been answering the questions as they are repeatedly asked. He's no attention *****.

But if you knew Brent Barz, you probably wouldn't have thought he'd stick with basketball for more than a year.

Funny story, I saw him hustling games of horse at the basketball hoop at 3-Bag one night. It was right around closing time and he telling everyone about how he used to play at UNI. He was wearing some UNI gear too. Knowing the real story, I got a good laugh out of it.

Uthoff seems like a smart enough kid to handle the recruiting process - I don't get why kids give themselves an artificial deadline like "end of june" or choose a school sometime in July. He'll have plenty of offers and can commit in Nov if he wants to.

If it were me, I'd wait and see how Hoiberg and Fran actually do this year and go from there. He'd be able to sign with any team he wants in the spring.

Won't happen! Name one men's basketball player in UNI's history who actually had an offer from Iowa State and turned it down.

Jordan Eglseder and, correct me if I am wrong, Seth Tuttle had an ISU offer before committing to UNI earlier this spring...

I'm getting ready to go to lunch and have narrowed my choices down to BK, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, or Taco John's. In no particular order.

But if something looks better as I'm driving down the street, I may go there as well.

Wrong on both accounts! It's really a testament to how good of a job Ben Jacobsen has done at UNI. That being said, don't expect Uthoff to pick UNI over schools from Big 10 and Big 12.

Thats interesting because, of the schools on his final list, one school on that last went the S16 last year and was ranked in the top 15, and one school played for a national title last year and was ranked in the top 5.

Yet, neither of those schools were B12 or B10 schools...

What's equally interesting is the number of players on UNI who had offers from B12 and B10 schools.
