***Video Board Renderings Released***

Obviously it's better than what we have, but I just don't like the dead space between the supports/bottom of screen and the Jacobsen building. I wish it looked more like the video board was attached to the top.

I have no problems at all with it being long and thin - to me it looks absolutely imposing, and I like it. I do think it might be a touch too tall, as it might give a better overall impression if it weren't looming over Jacobsen as much as it does, instead of looking as if it were actually part of Jacobsen. However, that being said, overall I'm impressed with it.

Thank you! If I had to throw around blind accusations and complaints, I might ask how many of those complaining are donors...

And I don't see anyone of those folks talking about the picture included which shows the ENTIRE board showing video. I think this thing is sweet!

I may be wrong, but I think it will show video between the ISTATE logo to the ISTATE logo.

That is one hell of an impressive structure. The video board is going to be a monster and a custom designed state of the art sound system???? Sorry... it doesn't get any better then that. No complaints from me. I can't wait to see it this fall.

I love it. Anything is better then what we have now. Can't wait to see it for real.

True that. This will be a huge step for the program.

That first fall night when a new entrance video is fired up and the team heads out to the field will be electric.

Sorry I was in class and looked at the pictures quickly, obviously I have been corrected.

It will grow on me I just wish it was lower. that's my only complaint.

Yea, now that you say that, I guess the wideness doesn't really bother me as much as the gap between the bottom of the board and the Jacobsen.

I agree with this. It looks like what you might run under at the finish line of a 10K, where you look up to see what the elapsed time is.

I'm pretty sure that they didn't want it to be attached or appear to be attached to the Jacobson because of structural reasons. I'm sure that the board will sway slightly and be able to handle it, but if it was attached to the Jacobson it wouldn't be allowed to sway the way it's supposed to and might have major problems. Also it might have to do with the sound also. If the speakers were too close to the metal roof of the Jacobson the sound might bounce off of it and make a crappy sound. I'm sure they put a lot of work into making it sturdy and having great sound as they are professionals.

They are artist renderings, give it a chance to be built. It is a million times better than what we have now.

Someone has to bookmark this thread here.

I'd like to compare everyone's responses today with what they will be 136 or 137 days from now after they see it in real life against our thrashing of UNI.

I'm guessing 90% of comments will be 180 degrees different than what they are right now

Wow! How is that thing going to handle the wind? The footings must be incredible. I hope it isn't so big that the students can see it from the lots. We will never get them to come into the stadium.

I'm sitting in my chair visualizing the first football game and this massive new board with a great sound system...doesn't get any better.

This line sounds amazing

"The project will also include a Daktronics custom-built sound system for Jack Trice Stadium. That new Sportsound system uses the latest digital audio technology and will implement pounding base energy and smooth mid- and high-range frequencies."

Maybe they will get it THX certified and then when they boot it up for every game there will be that awesome THX sound bit. I bet that will get people into the stadium early.:jiggy:

65 feet deep, or, in other words, 6 stories down - I think it'll handle the wind just fine...

I like it for the most part. I agree that it seems too tall, and would look better if it seemed like it was more a part of the Jacobson Building than something completely separate. The giant I-State logos on both sides look kinda awkward too, like they just threw them up there because its so wide there wasn't anything else to do with that space.

But it's a huge improvement. If it really is the 15th largest in the country, that is awesome. And I'm sure when we see it in person it will look even better than in the renderings. Can't wait to see it in action at the first game!

Now we just need an awesome intro song to go with that awesome sound system (yes, I'm starting that subject up already )

They CAN'T do anything else with that space - the sound system speakers are behind those logos that were "just thrown up there"...
