McKay has a 7'4 wingspan. NBA scouts and coaches drool over that kind of length and skill. IMO if McKay develops a solid mid-range jumper he will be a Top 15 draft pick in 2016.
I'd love to have to eat some crow, but I seriously, seriously doubt he ever gets drafted in the 1st round, much less the lottery. Another poster mentioned his lower body strength as lacking, and I agree. I just don't think he'd be able to defend in the post, or rebound enough with his current strength (and rebounding and D are what need to carry him).

I'm really impressed with how good his hands are. Needs to learn to not put it on the floor so much when in the low post.

If McKay doesn't get drafted in the 1st round something horrible would have to happen next season like a injury or he just flat out doesn't improve.

Jameel McKay isn't an NBA player.

Georges isn't an NBA player.

Monte will play in the NBA.

People don't realize how few players play in the NBA.

I think he would have to play the 3 in the NBA. With his length, quickness, and hustle I could see him being a great role player. Maybe an energy/defense guy. I could see a team like the Spurs really liking him.

I also think some scouts put too much into foreign players. Seems like most of these Turkey or Greece players that get drafted in the 1st round end up averaging 2 PPG in their careers.

I wish he was a couple years younger. The fact that he'll turn 24 before he ever (presumably) plays an NBA game will really hurt him, as NBA folks won't see as much room for development. His ceiling would be something like Birdman, which is great if he can get there, but let's not make him out to be a surefire NBA player.

Also, sort of unrelated, but remember when Rothstein compared him to DeMarre Carroll? God, that was so dumb/lazy.

I think RRothestein saw the hair and just figured he'd say DeMarre Carroll.

Nothing. He has to do nothing to make the NBA. He, georges and monte will be the first time isu will have three underclass men drafted in the same draft this offseason
No. Joking?

Teams use foreign players as ways to get around throwing money at an unneeded rookie. They let the foreign player continue to develop overseas and if they think they are capable of helping, they bring them over and give them a contract. This is very valuable to many teams salary cap wise.

Don't compare him to Faried. It's just not accurate. McKay isn't the rebounder Faried is. But as other people have said, a jumper and some weight would be helpful. His wingspan is amazing and GM's love that stuff.

No. You must be thoroughly unaware of how the draft works/how the NBA works. If he adds a DEADLY jumper and gains 15-20 pounds without losing a drop of athleticism, he MIGHT slide into the 1st round. It's certainly not impossible but he has no real offensive game besides open lay-ins and dunks. He can't really defend bigger guys in the post consistently yet.

He definitely has NBA potential but you're crazy if you actually think he's a 1st round lock.

We all know McKay is going to be an NBA player in the future(If Kenneth Faried can make it McKay will), but what do you think he needs to improve on to get to that next level? Put on some weight? Work on a mid-range jumper?

I posted similar sentiments a couple of days ago that he had a chance to be drafted, and compared his stats vs Cliff Alexander. Amazing how many people posted "LOL" at the suggestion, as if they know 100% what the future holds.

Agree with you assessment that he needs to gain strength/weight, and develop a jumper.
