Sure as **** doesn't hurt. Fans, arena, the number of games on National TV, the announcers adore the atmosphere, people camping out for days, S.O.S, the list goes on and on.
Went large schools don't want to come to play you, you've become a basketball school.
Even a Big 10 power in OSU was too chicken **** to play in Ames and we ended up playing them in Des Moines but ISU wasn't too afraid to play on their campus.

You need to settle down.

They're kind of like a Texas under Mack Brown, if Mack didn't have elite athletes. Confident, but inflexible.

10 Year Records (Source: Phil Steele)

Iowa 78-51

Comparable BXII Records:

Baylor: 72-54
Kansas State 74-53
West Virginia 85-44
Texas Tech 77-51

Iowa State (2006-2015): 41-82

Comparable B1G Records:

Indiana 44-78
Purdue 48-77
Illinois 50-74
Minnesota 54-73

Only one, arbitrary metric, I know. Interesting to compare.

Side Note (per Phil Steele): In the last 10 years, Iowa State is 19-66 in Big XII games and Kansas is 18-67.

It's still remarkable to me that Iowa is only 6-4 against ISU in the last 10 years. Kudos to the Clones.

Might as well compare Iowa and UNI since they are closer in terms of scheduling

OU beats ISU consistently, Iowa doesn't.

Iowa vs ISU past 5 seasons: 3-2 record with ISU leading, 111-112 cumulative score, last year's 14 point Iowa win was the least close game but was close until mid 4th quarter

Iowa vs OU past 5 seasons: 5-0 record with OU dominating, 210-66 cumulative with no close games

Yeah, he's right OU is pretty much the same as Iowa. When we line up against Iowa I just can't see any difference in talent or quality.

Somewhere between Kstate and OKstate.
Why do Iowa fans think they are better than Kansas State? Both Snyder and KF have been at each school long enough for us to make a decision on who is better and the stats point towards Snyder.
This isn't a selective # of years stat either. Throw in S.O.S. and historical winning at both schools and it's not a conversation.

This. Iowa fans could only dream to be as good as K State

That's just not accurate. Everyone knows Hilton Magic and what Iowa State has done lately

Seems there are a lot of places to play in the country that, on paper, aren't considered nearly as special as Hilton. Apples to oranges to be sure, but interesting nonetheless. I know there's not a team in the country that would choose to play @ Hilton over a game @ Carver.

I mean nobody in their right mind would want to play @ Hilton. Iowa can be tough at home but not scary. A fifteen point lead on the road against the hawks is pretty safe; against Iowa State? Not so much.
